Aeterna – Descent Into Night. An original cinematic score. A slow fall into the dark, under an eclipse that never ends. Latest full track wip is getting close to done for a formal release. Feedback welcome. 🌑 #ableton #aeterna #filmscore

Bind. Instantiate. Bond. Close. Complete. Federate. Totalize. Those 7 operations are the spine of a hypothesis I’ve been testing this year: that the same construction sequence shows up when things are built in matter, mind, and meaning. #OpenScience #ResonanceArchitecture #SystemsofThought

Q: Still time to put binding, democratic rules on AI? I score that question every quarter across 5 areas, from law to industry power. Q3 results: the window is narrowing, by a thin margin. It sits close to holding steady. www.systemsofthought.com/ai-governanc... #AIGovernance #AIPolicy #AISafety

🧵Building in public: the governed crossing. When your data leaves a system you control for one you don't, almost nothing records what happened. I've been drafting a record for that moment: what crossed, who authorized it, when, and where it landed. #atproto #localfirst

🧵Building in public: my native local-first social app now has a frontier branch for fast experiments. First 1: can a phone keep reading its own end-to-end encrypted Keyhive docs after a restart, without storing keys unprotected? In core tests: yes, with 2 conditions: #localfirst #e2ee

Sep 20 is coming up, but there's still time to submit a proposal — we especially want half-day workshops offering hands-on practice with practical tools and techniques. Workshop facilitators will receive free conference registration! buff.ly/Mjb301f
Call for Proposals — deadline September 20 — above a conference scene where a presenter speaks to a full audience with a projected slide titled "Product Blueprints"; IAC27 branding and the theme "Architectures of Trust: Building What Endures."

In March, I wrote about a building that changed its use and an AI-based targeting system that couldn't tell a confirmed fact from an assumption. This week, I built something that enforces the answer to that. #AIGovernance #ContentFramework #LocalFirst

Last week's @automerge.org newsletter pointed me to Livelymerge's "Convergence Is Not Enough." I'd only seen it excerpted. Reading it in full sent me to Coln, then to the two papers underneath: Kleppmann's move-op and ECRO. A short thread on what those three do when they refuse something. 🧵

A hearty August issue with an ARK API guide, Livelymerge's argument that convergence ≠ correctness, a call for the slowest, weirdest Automerge docs, and more. Also, a thank-you for the kind write-up of my Keyhive→Bluesky prototype.

I've spent the last 6 months writing + building infrastructure for the person's side of a problem that I don't believe has been widely addressed. The essay that frames it is live. The build is public and growing. Here's the short version of both. #AIGovernance #localfirst #atproto #fullpersonhood

Last night I wrote about what happens at the boundary, where local-first's interior guarantees end, and something else has to start. Entry 02 in my build notebook is about what that something else is built on. #localfirst #atproto #datasovereignty #contentgovernance #contentarchitecture

Local-first spent nearly a decade solving an interior problem. CRDTs that converge. Sync that survives partition. Data that stays local. That work is mature enough to build on. What it didn't build is a theory of what happens at the boundary. #localfirst #atproto #datasovereignty

Once a record enters the AT Protocol relay network, you can't recall it. Deletion is a broadcast request, and third-party subscribers may retain it regardless. Most systems handle this by ignoring it. That seems like the wrong answer. #atproto #localfirst

Jetstream note for anyone building on the local-first + atproto stack: jetstream1.us-east > jetstream2 for delivery reliability, in my testing. And wantedCollections filters don't surface com.whtwnd.blog.entry commit events; unfiltered sub + client-side filtering is the move. #atproto #localfirst

Thinking PR reviews have a measurement gap: they measure size, not consequence. My Governed PR Framework swaps that unit. Tier = how far a failure spreads, and whether it would be visible or silent. Rigor scales from there. github.com/jediwright/governed-pr-framework #DevEx #PullRequest

Claude’s Project view loses greater clarity and utility the further you build your projects out. So, I took a crack at reimagining it while writing my last article’s drafts over the weekend, using the Figma MCP Connector to iterate, then took over editing as I found an approach. Thoughts? #claude
A mobile UI mockup at 670px width showing a Claude Project page titled "End of History Project." At the top is a chat input bar with a model selector (Sonnet 4.6) and a voice input button. Below are filter pills showing 3 open, 5 resolved, and 1 pending conversations, with Filter and Sort controls. A scrollable list of recent conversations follows, each showing a title, date and time, status badge (Open, Resolved, or Pending), hashtag topic labels, and a relative "Last message" timestamp. Some entries include contextual notices such as "Context splits into next session" and "Continued — memory limit reached in previous session." The design uses a clean grayscale palette with a light, warm background.

Lots of change and reflection this week. Thinking of friends and colleagues come and gone. But, thankfully some things remain (more or less) the same…

Much like the @firebirdfestival and other well-known events and spots, the side streets, tucked-away corners, and lesser-known places help make up the heart and soul of our spirited little town. Here’s to casting a little more light & giving thanks for those quieter places, people, and moments. #pxv

Until abortion is legal in every state, lets require men to get a mandatory vasectomy until they are proven emotionally mature, financially responsible and ready to be a father. Wait, what do you mean regulations on men's bodies make you uncomfortable?
