In this strip of Everybody Loves Smiley we see Ernie completely asleep in the first panel. He is at his desk, in front of his computer.

In the second panel Ella comes in and she says 'Hi Ern!'. Ernie wakes up suddenly and says 'hrng- IM AWAKE!'.
