If you into rts games, try 0 AD, it has amazingly well-designed maps, great realistic graphics and all kind of units and buildings you can build even walls like in old C&C and it is free open source game. Check out my #twitch vods how it plays and so on twitch.tv/jeclplayer

Advice for new game artists: a thread Just start. No, for real. Even if you’re “not an artist”, just start. Don’t waste time doing a million courses. Pick one or two foundational ones, get familiar with lighting and color, and then practice. And more practice. #art #gameart #indiedev #gamedev

I have noticed so many times that ai models make mistakes when you ask questions. It seems it is very important to always double verify that their anwser is right. So remember to always verify AI anwsers!

000

jeclplayer @jeclplayer.bsky.social · 02/05/2026

It is amazing how confident ai models are. They give this impression that they know what should be done, they say "this will work" "do this" but it seems nothing works when it comes to coding or something complicated. Humans should know all fundamentals but then whats the point?

jeclplayer @jeclplayer.bsky.social · 02/05/2026

I just tried probably 2-3 hours by using ai to customize Mixx dj software skin to something more light steel grey color because all the default skins are very dark... I tried asking AI again and again how I should edit the files and what code I need to add but it never worked :D

Also I noticed from stream that it was a bit blurry so I will fix it for next stream :)

Mullvad vpn seemed to crash my whole Internet, so stream went down despite split tunneling... Well I am hungry anyways so I will eat and see if I go live again since my last 0 AD game was left unfinished (saved the game) and you know how you can get addicted to rts games... :D

The high precision artistic craft that went into creating music in early 2000 is still unbeliviable, early 2000 music is still absolutely peak.

Lasts 48 hours was ruff, I was so down, almost in full coma like state from being sick. Glad that now I am better even if nose still bleeds.

jeclplayer @jeclplayer.bsky.social · 11/01/2026

Still sick, but I have some energy to move, went to food store today and I did eat some Nepalise food at local place. Probably going live tomorrow.

Excellent example of automatic installer is swedish company´s Mullvad vpn installer, which automatically after downloading verifies software´s integrity and authenticity. I think Linux distros should focus their dev budget in creating such installer and verification system.

000

jeclplayer @jeclplayer.bsky.social · 07/01/2026

Linux distros need to make it easy and safe to start using Linux. There should not be any obstacles in downloading and installing linux. For example distros should implement installer which automatically verifies iso file authenticity and integrity. That should be standard.

000

jeclplayer @jeclplayer.bsky.social · 07/01/2026

In order to make Linux a option that most people will start to consider using it, it is important 1) distros improve their websites and their marketing 2) distros need to make clear in their websites that linux is great option, it is visually appealing and has useful features.

000

jeclplayer @jeclplayer.bsky.social · 07/01/2026

I think as for now realistic way to move to Linux is 1) consider can Linux do everything you need it do 2)If not you can still do most of basic things in Linux such as store all personal data and use it for basic tasks like for web browsing 3) use windows only when necessary.

000

jeclplayer @jeclplayer.bsky.social · 07/01/2026

I think it is time to move to Linux. If Microsoft is releasing these features such as "Get insights from your data" I think that is red flag if they want to analyze your data in any way, if not now but in future they might start showing targeted ads by using your personal data.
