I’m watching LUDWIG on iPlayer and I’ve noticed they’re using a weird lens. The edges are blurred in a way that makes it look like a cheap vintage lens, only very expensively. Check out the right hand side of this shot to see the lens distortion. It’s weird and I can’t unsee it.

I admit I’m a bit of an Alan Moore fanboy, though. I might be biased. I also worked at Forbidden Planet in the late 80s, so my collection is heavily weighted to that era. Example pictured. But it was Halo Jones in @2000ad.bsky.social that made me into the fan I am today.

Alan Moore revitalised American comics in 1984, two years before he wrote Watchmen. He took over writing Swamp Thing from issue 21 (my copy pictured below) and opened the door for Karen Berger’s British invasion that led to the creation of Vertigo comics.

This is my home river. If you turn left out of the front door to my cottage, you’ll pass a field and then you’ll reach this river. It’s the beginning of the River Ayr and you can walk alongside it on a footpath for twenty five miles, all the way to Ayr on the west coast of Scotland.

The helmet holder on a 748/916 is a piece of wire that loops through a latch under the seat. I had to buy a replacement as mine didn’t come with one. I can’t find a pic, but here’s a pic of the decal with instructions.

We have come in from the terrace as we got pelted by fat rain. We are now enjoying it from our room with a view of Sacré Coeur instead.

Years ago, I had a reverser ring that fitted to my Canon 400D camera that allowed me to use the 18-55 kit lens backwards, turning it into a macro lens. I took this awesome photo of the underside of a snail with it.

I know, right? And it’s an import, which is not shocking for Ducatis of this age.

Ok, my world is shattered beyond belief. My 1997 Ducati 748 that I bought in 1998 is actually a 1996 Ducati 748. The S stands for Strada, not the later SP designation.

Here’s one of my favourite Astérix translations. The “my melon is too expensive?” comment sets up a joke about the British and bowler hats. That doesn’t translate at all, so the English language version is (iirc) “Are you saying my melon is off?” To which the reply is “Rather, old fruit”

Who knew this old painting would be worth a few grand, eh? I’ve had it for thirty odd years and it’s smaller than my other original Magic: the Gathering painting, but I could really do with a holiday and this will fund that.

Ducati cleaned ready for MOT. Both bikes cleaned, tbh, but nobody really wants to see photos of a Triumph 765RS when there’s a ‘97 Ducati 748 available.

Unprecedented. Maria Herrera won (on track) against her championship rival, giving her enough points to claim the 2026 WorldWCR title. The only problem: she got a penalty for knocking a rider off on the last lap, putting her in second place and keeping the championship alive.

These are the cameras and main lenses. This is a budget setup consisting of Canon EOS 6D and Canon EOS 7Dmkii bodies with 28-135mm and 70-300mm lenses. The 6D full frame body has the wider lens and the wrong strap while the 7D has the longer lens and a comfy strap as that much glass is heavy.

I’ve been following motorcycle racing since the 1990s and I have never seen as dominant a performance as what’s happening in World Superbike right now. It’s very hard to find anything new to write about when the top two places are the same two riders on the same bike, but I try. 😆

My last conversation with John Blanche was around about 1988. He knew I rode motorbikes and wanted to pick my brains. He was learning to ride and aiming for a Honda Shadow as his first big bike. Our paths never crossed again, and we both went on to bigger and better stuff. Farewell, John.
