Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Yeah, looks like it does work. I had to tinker a bit but eventually got attachments of jpgs to show up fine. It was pretty neat. 011
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I was also able to send the image that I had sent and stored in #PlayOnline back out to another email address. So I can both send and receive attachments. However, the only way to get attachments into the system is to mail them to myself first it seems. 020
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Wait, I tinkered a bit and did actually get image attachments to work! 110
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Looks like no. It seems to see it as undefined and won't open them unfortunately. I have no files in PlayOnline to try sending either as the wallpaper and greeting card sections are no longer online. 100
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 10/09/2026You can teach someone to normal summon and set in Yugioh easily, but it's a different experience than seeing a full branded dracotail combo, the points of interaction, and what you might be on the look out for. The second would tell you what the game actually feels like to play. 000
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Ideally, I want someone to either comment on a high level game, or walk through combos with the assumption of no prior knowledge of the game other than the most basic rules to show off why a game is fun and interesting. 100
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I need someone to create advanced "Learn to Play" for TCGs. Basically, learn to plays all suck because they're very basic and don't show what gameplay is really like. High end content that shows the real game is full of jargon and not understandable until you've learned the game. #TCG #CCG 210
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Watching a livestream takes a long time. Do you have any site that gives just quick synopsis of each of the game ideas to glance over? 100
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Bring Rush to the TCG. Do it in a way that brings it inline with the OCG in a years time (make catch-up sets). 000
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 02/09/2026For new decks, make them with going second in mind. I'm not talking Tenpai, but cards that are ok going first but get better effects going second. Think Ecclesia where you can special Simon only if your opponent controls more monsters. 010
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 31/08/2026JavaScript and the DOM in a terminal app? Man this seems like an unnecessary hell. 010
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 29/08/2026I started playing #FFXI 24 years ago, but I stopped playing in 07'. Max level I ever got was 74 whm and 73 bst. 19 years later I picked it up again and now have bst at 76 for the first time! The changes that have been made after I left are vast, but make it possible for me to revisit Vana'diel. 060
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 27/08/2026I can now send and receive emails using #PlayOnline! Some might not remember that #ffxi runs using PlayOnline which at one point had an actual Email client in it. I set up a local proxy server however and now I can use PlayOnline as an email client. The PlayOnline app was ahead of its time. 23312
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 25/08/2026It makes me calm and happy to hear the song that I recently learned is titled "Dolphin" from the #FFXI #PlayOnline viewer. Every time I boot up the game, it sounds so good and makes me wish PlayOnline was still a fully functioning app like it was back in the day. open.spotify.com/track/0UDnEX...open.spotify.comDolphin松枝 賀子 · FINAL FANTASY XI Original Soundtrack -PLUS- · Song · 2011 030
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 22/08/2026Also exploring a zone feels like really exploring. You often don't start with a map. I was leveling in Ru'Aun gardens and the teleport points and interconnected areas make it really challenging to navigate in a good way. It was beautiful and dangerous and the areas felt like they meant something 010
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 22/08/2026One thing I've noted as I've been playing XI again is the sense of danger and importance of the mobs in each zone. You need to use things like sneak and invisibility to get around. Mobs in XIV you ignore, in XI it's how you level but they're also dangerous. 110
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 20/08/2026I'm impressed people are still doing besieged. I just reinstalled FFXI myself and have been doing the Raspodies line to unlock more trusts. This game has held up surprisingly well from when I last played 20ish years ago. 230
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 13/08/2026I'm surprised by how good The Villager of Level 999 is. #anime 010
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 06/08/2026I wonder if people will start including intentional mistakes like misspelling, poor grammar, random mixed slang, in their online writing just to avoid it being labeled as AI generated. Kinda like the flaws in home made goods that people like because it shows it's not from some large corporation. 110
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 05/08/2026I've played a good deal of the FFXI story a few decades ago. I'm very curious as to what section you just hit. 120
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 05/08/2026I've been working on a side project for a little while to keep track of my notes. It uses an automatic categorizer to file notes for me so I don't have to decide where the notes go, they just get stored to where I want. I published some details about it on my blog. #dev #programming #organizationdeveloperaspirations.comTeravangian Part 1At work, I’ve been required to do a lot more with AI. I work at Google, so AI is pretty big there right now. And while I do find that I have to write less code and spend more time describing structure... 020
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 14/07/2026I threw a Lord of the Rings watch party over the weekend. I served all 7 Hobbit meals and we assembled this while watching. It was good times. #LotR 000
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 23/05/2026I would be ok if they modernized the UI a bit. It's more of a struggle than it should be to play. Especially without a number pad on your keyboard. 000
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 09/04/2026There's apparently going to be a ballot proposition to add a new tax to pay for and improve our local libraries. I can't imagine voting no on such a thing. The value per dollar a public library brings to a community is astronomical. It's one of the best investments a town can make. 000
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 09/04/2026This is probably going to get even more important with gas prices skyrocketing due to a useless war. 020
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 08/04/2026Obviously we need cheap, clean, and safe teleportation options. 100
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 05/04/2026I mean, Luigi has proven there is a system for dealing with health CEOs who care about profits over patients. 010
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 03/04/2026I'm writing code in #VisionBasic for the #C64 on a #C64U and finding that I'm actually using the printing feature. Since I can only view 24 lines at a time and scrolling has it's challenges, printing out the code onto paper as a reference for making changes ends up making sense. 000
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 24/03/2026I miss 11 a lot. I also miss that they consolidated servers and I lost the name I made back in 2003. Such an interesting game. 010
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 10/03/2026Continuing to geek out and my #commodore, I just received a 1541 and brand set of 20 5.25" floppy disks! I was able to format one, store a file, and load my copy of #VisionBasic from it's disk and everything works! #C64 #Commodore64 #retro 040
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 01/03/2026I put way too much time into this post about the #Commodore64. I'd be curious about anyone's thoughts on the article. It was fun to write and oddly important to me. developeraspirations.com/posts/commod...developeraspirations.comCommodore 64I came across an advertisement over the holidays about the Commodore 64 Ultimate. I was amused at the time and thought, while neat, it wasn’t worth getting. Compared to anything modern, the Commodore ... 110
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 01/03/2026I don't particularly like having AI writing things for me, but I do lack an actual editor and need someone external to give things a look over and act as a sort of rubber duck. My hope is that it will help me gain a different perspective for my own edits before I publish it. 000
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 01/03/2026I'm writing a blog post about the #commodore64 while watching @hankgreen.bsky.social talk about his biggest AI fears and looking at having #claude set up #LongChain so I can test out making my own Editor agent for my commodore post while simultaneously feeling uneasy about #AI in general. Weird day. 100
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 23/02/2026Not yet. I really just want to play with it. I like the idea of what could have been done on the system as it was in 1982. If you had a REU and a copy of Vision Basic, how much better would it be and what could you make? I've not done much basic, so I'll probably play around a lot with small apps. 000
Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 23/02/2026Ok, so I don't trust OpenAI and I wouldn't get this, but assuming a device like this was trustworthy and worked completely locally there's definitely a use case for those with disabilities. A friend of mine recently went blind and something to describe things to her would have value. 000

Colin @jearil.bsky.social · 21/01/2026I bought a copy of #visionbasic for the #commodore64 and it came today and is amazing. A physical box, 352 page user manual, physical 5.25" floppy disk and a USB stick. The care and craft of this software and package is inspiring. 110
