The combination of higher marginal rates for very high-income taxpayers (under the new NDP proposal to include those with over $1 million in ANNUAL INCOME, not WEALTH) with lower rates for everyone else, shows that the system is more progressive, not that it collects more tax.

Conservatives always use the 'top marginal rate' as a (false) proxy for the overall tax rate. This reveals their allegiance to those who PAY that top marginal rate (a small share of the population). BC's tax rates for low- and middle-income people are among the lowest in Canada. /3

I keep meeting smart informed Albertans who tell me they do not intend to vote, because they don’t want to legitimize the process, or because they know the premier is not bound by the results. But what if making us give up on voting is the whole point? My argument to vote - no matter the absurdity.

BC needs 16,000 spaces in 10 years, but has built only net 240 in the last 6. Delaying expansion leads to more ER & doctor costs, family distress, and higher construction costs later. Outsourcing to private providers is more expensive, largely due to much higher finance costs. /3

The accounting is in: In Oregon there are 111 data centers. The TOTAL number of people employed at data centers is just 2,630, or 0.1% of the labor force. Those 100 data centers consumer 23% of all electricity used in Oregon. Meanwhile, electricity rates skyrocket as more centers are built.

I think the public should *own* airports and set the terms for how they are operated. But I don't see the govt having any particular advantage in *operating* the shopping mall and logistics hub that is an airport. And if I had a hunch, I might expect the private sector would be pretty good at it.

And, I should clarify, I mean private *for profit* operators of the malls-airports. The sky high fees under the current private not for profit model makes me skeptical of the status quo. Private for profits are pretty good at *running* malls and logistics! Just leave the asset in public hands.
