For more than 22 hours, Cory Booker did something spectacular to show the people that our concerns and fears and needs actually matter. He took action. Let's not let it be for nothing. Tell your reps, tell your senators: It's your turn to do something!

Feels like we're doing something really wrong if we need a World Water Day but here we are. Here’s a reminder that 2.2 billion people have no access to safe water and half the world doesn’t have basic sanitation but yet rich countries flush their toilets with clean drinking water.

Sassafras flowers sprouted from a twig pruned this winter! Fun facts about sassafras albidum from the MO Dept of Conservation: Female spicebush swallowtails can "taste" leaves with their forelegs, and when they land on a sassafras leaf, they know they have found a suitable egg-laying site. 1/4

It's been 5 years since my last cigarette. Unfortunately my quitting is tied up with a dear friend's fatal cancer diagnosis so it's never been a happy anniversary. I don't expect it will ever be something I celebrate with any joy. It is an incredibly difficult thing to do and of that I am proud.

I bought a new fridge and dishwasher in the last two years and neither are smart or even clever. Basic as basic gets. My car is all manual as well. We still have a choice in what we purchase. We don't have to get the fancy stuff that makes repair impossible. There are other options available.
