Trump made it very clear that pay-for-play was the way to get attention but none of these leaders seemed to remember he's an inveterate liar.

The end of the paragraph is also in basically every article like this, wherein a bunch of mediocre people join together and believe they're being persecuted because others rightfully find them vapid and uninteresting.

Every interaction I've had with an EA advocate has felt like some hidden camera TV but where someone is seeing how long you can go before you cry BS because nothing about the movement feels real. Just a bunch of people who want to be rich but not feel bad about it.

Largely agree, but I would point out that my dishwasher or clothes dryer doesn't require a subscription, is largely deterministic in its job, and the Whirlpool guys don't want me there's a 20% chance that my dishwasher is going to try to kill me.

i saw some commentary on here about how one never sees Charlie Kirk anymore in a serious context, and it made me feel the need to take y’all on a short walk through the halls of congress one year after his death i only made it past about half of their offices bc I only had like 40 mins at lunch but

These really are people who watched a couple too many Sci-FI channel originals and now believe that super powered vending machines are going to "fight back" in some undefined and illogical way.

I find it quite telling that the people in my Boston neighborhood who had Trump flags up around 2024 have Moulton yard signs now. He's such a chud who thinks winning his Trump-y House seat meant he had mass appeal.

The fact his ally uses the r-word in the next sentence highlights why this "op" is probably going to work. Vance is an unlikeable edgelord and while that works on Xwitter his in-person awfulness makes him a hard sell to even the goobers who find Trump endearing

Text-based social media, almost by definition if not by practice, is going to be niche and a bit of an echo chamber.

Steven Cheung is always a massive POS but the vitriol in his response feels directly related to how bothered they are with the topics for Trump.

Beyond the strong "Russian mail order bride" vibes around this couple, the fact he claimed his wife came in via Trump's "big beautiful door" when she arrived under Biden's admin is a cherry on top of this stupid cake.

Yeah, I just think polls have been getting progressively worse in some of these races so while directionally AES is still the favorite I never bought that he'd win by 10+. I grew up in MI and it has always been a bit idiosyncratic.

Yeah, I don't have a dog in this fight and Stevens said she'd back AES if he won but talk of this being a blowout feels like another example of how online discourse doesn't usually match reality.

The fact these drones are inevitably going to pepper spray random students and staff and prove ineffective in an actual scenario will be lost on whichever backwards "security consultant" was able to fleece these districts. If only there was another way to make guns less of a threat at schools...

I was in law school in the mid 2000s and it was absolutely the accepted belief that the 2000 election was handled properly and that questioning the jurisprudence of SCOTUS was for people who didn't understand how law worked. It was insufferable.

We're looking for a used EV and I see a TON of 4-5 year old Teslas available with seemingly no interest as prices well below comparable vehicles. It does feel like the empire he built was on way more sand than originally believed.

Multiple times during the clip people grow and then lose little facial bumps and, in one spot, Odysseus has golden flecks on the back of his neck that are clearly just artifacts of the armor he wore a scene before. Again, this guy wants you to believe he can make autonomous robots and go to Mars.

I think it's a real problem how common and ubiquitous gambling has become so I'm not doubting the thrust of the piece but I do think using loaded words like "habit" can make the pointer murkier for some groups.

Clicking thru it's a Morning Consult poll with 622 respondents, and while I didn't see the exact question asked I think it includes daily fantasy sports and similar services. I suspect with a sufficiently broad definition you get close to 28% but it's a single online poll with an okay sample size.

I heard Andy Fang speak years ago about DoorDash from a technology standpoint and let's just say that the fact he'd rather have robots talk to other robots and remove any human involvement totally tracks. The fact it'll hilariously fail multiple times doesn't remotely matter to him.

Oster expanding her craft from dubious "data driven" analysis around pregnancy and child rearing to food-borne illnesses and government management is not totally unsurprising. Yes, this isn't the plague but this outbreak is a massive public health failure because the dumbest people are in charge.

You either maintain loyalty with some people you shouldn't for too long or you are Trump, who'll stab basically anyone in the back if he needs to unless you are a pedophile. Mamdani will have to figure out how to cull his pack but he's earned some time to figure it out.

Also, he was in the Senate for 23 years and House 8 years before that. He's undoubtedly just made friends over that time because they're work colleagues. All the Dem responses I've seen are "we didn't agree on a lot but we were friendly", which seems like a human response.

I was at a trail race once and a bear just walked across the road with close to a hundred people and nobody saw it coming and it didn't seem particularly surprised. This guy was just walking past a campground 100+ feet away and the bison was just agitated and went after him.

He's never shown any real contrition for his many missteps and the fact he basically tried to get thru a midlife crisis by running for the US Senate, and was enabled to do so by a bunch of craven consultants, highlights how he views the world.

I think the fact the modal Democratic voter is a woman of color drives a lot of people crazy because while they may profess to believe in equality and acceptance, they still want women to make a little less money and be a little more quiet than them.

What struck me talking to PR people is that it really isn't that hard to get these favorable non-stories/press releases published in major-ish publications. Especially on the Internet people have quotas and if you can give a writer 500 words and an angle they'll run with it provided low stakes.

And I recognize he's also gotten a lot of truly heinous targeting from the MAGA crowd, so I have sympathy for him as a person to a degree, but his natural inclination to just ignore massive red flags because of some canned rhetoric he agrees with hasn't served him remotely well.

I remember years ago he interviewed Aaron Coleman, an awful state rep in Kansas who at the time had admitted to cyber stalking and revenge p*rn of a girlfriend, and Grim just kept making excuses for this awful person. Then it came out he physically abused another partner and Grim still held strong.

This is, by my count, the second partner abuser he's vociferously supported in elections since Trump took over, and I'll admit I might have forgotten someone. But yeah, the guy who outed Blasey Ford seems to have a really weird view of the dynamics between men and women.
