What are we even doing here? This sounds basically like "MAHA - the journal" and I fully expect them to be *shocked* in the future when RFK Jr. and co. don't do anything productive.
Another striking study found a possible association between ultra-processed food consumption and dementia in older adults. (The study has several important caveats, including the fact that surveys that ask people to recall what and how much they eat are notoriously imprecise, and that dementia was assessed based on a test rather than a clinical diagnosis.)

Also, the article says CS graduates have some of the highest unemployment rates of college grads, then links to a Fed page...that shows CS grads have an 84% employment rate, which is the 5th highest of all majors. Oh, and really high starting salaries. God the NYT is awful at this stuff.
List of unemployment rates by major and CS is one of the lowest, not the highest like this stupid NYT article claims.

That's not really what the 21% says. The report asks if they ever use these apps, which is immensely vague. If you click through a link to a tweet from a sports team that's "using X" but not really engaging with it like YouTube or Instagram, most likely. Stickiness matters.

This article about Platner was one I saw and at some point the version of leftism they trade in has ripped the mask off enough times that we need to stop taking them seriously as people.

Again, I'm old enough to very much remember how Romney was portrayed in 2012 and it was as an empty suit plutocrat. Santorum ran on a ton of culture war issues and got traction, but the legacy GOP was just able to win out with Romney. But combined with Sarah Palin you could see the turn coming.

In no world is the late Henry Kissinger someone who should be listened to for technology policy or understanding what AI can and can't do. This article reads like someone pushing a book or an IPO, not a thoughtful analysis.
Yes, I read the newspapers — especially the science section. And I’ve also been discussing this issue for the past year with my friend and A.I. adviser Craig Mundie, the former head of research and strategy for Microsoft and a co-author, with Henry Kissinger and Eric Schmidt, of the A.I. primer “Genesis.”

The fact this farm's website has, at the top of the home page, with a disclaimer basically saying they're forced by law to not officially sell their milk to consumers as drinkable by humans gives away the ghost. It's just performative nonsense for gullible buyers.
As required by the Federal Pasteurized Milk Ordinance and Florida Statute 502.091,
which forbid the sale of unpasturized milk products for human consumption,
our products are labeled:
"Not for Human Consumption" and sold as "Feed for Calves."

We are LEGALLY REQUIRED to include these statements on our product labels.

Daldo Raine as his username on X -- a nod, he said, to the Brad Pitt character in the movie "Inglourious Basterds" -- kept his camera off and refused to give his name or age during the call with ESPN. Like, I get you have to use tools around you and while the reality of AI is less impressive than the marketing around it, it's really depressing that its misuses are so obvious they have to spell it all out.
The training also points out ways Democrats shouldn’t use AI and discourages candidates from using AI to deepfake their opponents, impersonate real people, or create images and videos that could “deceive voters by misrepresenting events, individuals, or reality.”

This is Williams's entire journalistic output distilled down to two (succinct) sentences.
He styles himself as casting a plague on both American political houses, bemoaning “the ill-conceived identity politics of the left” and “the spiteful populism of the right.” In fact, though, he fixates on mere blemishes dotting the house to his left and too often neglects the unmistakable stench of decay emanating from the house to his right.

What's funny is the next paragraph absolutely explains why Trump is losing ground despite "winning" (that link to his other accomplishments is just a press release by the WH that is full of lies) because people realize his actual actions aren't, in fact, good things
This paradox is unfolding in what could be the very best chapter of his presidency, before tariffs push prices higher or midterms pose risks to his GOP majorities.

And it's being aggravated by the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, which has exposed rare cracks in Trump's decade-old MAGA movement.

The fact he seemingly forgot the Internet and the personal computer were also created in the past century isn't a good sign of his comprehension skills given he's a (checks notes) historian of technology.
On the contrary, staggering transformations are in full swing. And yet, on campus, we’re in a bizarre interlude: everyone seems intent on pretending that the most significant revolution in the world of thought in the past century isn’t happening. The approach appears to be: “We’ll just tell the kids they can’t use these tools and carry on as before.” This is, simply, madness. And it won’t hold for long. It’s time to talk about what all this means for university life, and for the humanities in particular.

A big problem with the largely-unnamed "experts" quoted here is that they didn't attach their names so we can't mock them for being absolute idiots. On the other hand, the former Biden member who pointed out Trump doesn't care about any laws deserves a parade.

The entire article can be broken down to this one paragraph, in which people who claim to care about politics and are engaged have different perceptions of the same actions by Harris. It mostly comes across as voters who had some personal bias against Harris but won't admit it's that shallow.

This article, like a lot of Economist articles, is a complaint in search of a cause, the fact they effectively just ran the covers of dissertations through a pretty simple algorithm that amounts to "big words and long sentences bad!" seems incredibly lazy. Especially when the Flesch test does this.
