JD Long @jdlong.cerebralmastication.com · 28/09/2026I just spent 20 minutes trying to debug why my iPhone would connect to wifi on this united flight but my Mac would not. It kept redirecting me to the United web site, not the inflight portal. Turns out it was because I had my wifi DNS servers pinned. 2181

JD Long @jdlong.cerebralmastication.com · 28/09/2026I'm certainly doing a many commit build this time. But it's a refactor exercise so I hope having a golden output to validate against will keep it on track 100
JD Long @jdlong.cerebralmastication.com · 28/09/2026how'd you like the output? I told my planning model that it was going to be writing for an underpowered distilled model, so that may have made it extra verbose. But it was easily human read and understood. I'm not quite done building so I can't fully opine on final output, but on casual looks good 100
JD Long @jdlong.cerebralmastication.com · 28/09/2026my weekend experiment with extreme dumbbell approach to agentic coding is really interesting. I used Fable 5.1 to write extensive planning docs. (>30,000 words) then used GLM 5.2 Flash to implement. 5.2 Flash is limited but good at code and it is super cheap. Plan will cost 2x the build, I think. 140
JD Long @jdlong.cerebralmastication.com · 28/09/2026so it's a catchy tune, but I would not have guessed it would be the longest running chart topper. shows you how little I know. 010
JD Long @jdlong.cerebralmastication.com · 28/09/2026she leaves Texas in an 80's square body Chevy van flashing those Tecovas boot logos as she hops in the back. I wonder if both Chevy and Tecovas paid for brand placement. I bet only Tecovas. Chevy would have wanted new trucks. 110
JD Long @jdlong.cerebralmastication.com · 28/09/2026oh they do the whole "story telling music video thing" where it stops the music to build the story. Acting in the video is terribly campy. But the song is pretty catchy. Except for the gender of the singer, this song could 100% be a George Strait song. 100
JD Long @jdlong.cerebralmastication.com · 28/09/2026I wasn't up to date on country music hits so I watched the video to Choosin Texas. My thoughts: Square body chevy, maybe a 1 ton based on cab lights. Good choice. solid 80's nostalgia. 210

JD Long @jdlong.cerebralmastication.com · 28/09/2026I'm not one to give much advice about social stuff. But the human condition is one of myopia and gross simplification. In particular about 'other tribes'. Emotionally I just sort of detach and watch it all like an anthropologist or maybe like Jane Goodall watching chimps. 010

JD Long @jdlong.cerebralmastication.com · 28/09/2026This weekend I did an “extreme barbell” exercise on a coding project. Fable did initial planning and GLM 5.3 Flash did implementation and Kimi K3 did code review. Initial results look very good and I can’t believe how cheap 5.3 Flash is. For coding it’s hard to beat a good ensemble. 120
