Do you live in Chapel Hill, NC (or the Triangle)? Do like artists like Brandi Carlile, Joy Oladokun, Amos Lee, Dawes, etc.? I’m J. Dewveall, an Existential Americana artist with a new album about the unraveling & reimagining of the faith I grew up in. And you should come to my show on Sept. 3rd.

@natalieweiner.bsky.social I’d like to submit my album to you and/or Marissa for Don’t Rock the Inbox. What’s the best way to do that?

There are only 24 copies of this handmade/painted First Edition CD left, and I’ll be heading out on a mini-tour soon, so they might not be around much longer. It’s also Bandcamp Friday, so it’s a perfect day to snag one before it’s gone for good. #Americana #BandcampFriday #MusicSky

Q: Why aren’t there any more protest songs? A: Protest songs are everywhere. You just gotta stick around for longer than 2.4 seconds to get the message.

If you’re a fan of bluesy Americana music, go stream my new single - Naked Wolf by J. Dewveall - and help me point the algorithmic gods in the right direction. Like so many gods throughout the course of human history, they’re acting pretty useless at the moment. #MusicSky

I’m looking at dates between July 5th and 13th, but will probably try to do another Texas trip later in the year too. If you have enough space to invite 15+ friends, I would love to come share songs and meaningful conversation with y’all.

Looking for people in Texas who would be interested in hosting me for a small, intimate concert at their house or church (depending on the church of course 😅). #houseconcerts #texasmusic

One last strip tease before the song comes out at midnight, and I start howling at the moon. 🐺 Naked Wolf is my silky smooth R&B alt-country song about devouring every a$$h0l€ who disguises their hatred as love. #Americana #MusicSky #Deconstruction #exvangelical

J. Dewveall @jdewveall.com · 01/06/2026

I really want to have a small communal, listening room style venue that I can book all my amazingly talented friends to play. Zero pretentious bullshit, just great songs being shared by great humans for other great humans.

011

J. Dewveall @jdewveall.com · 01/06/2026

I wrote this song with those friends in mind - the ones I hurt when I thought I was being loving. I won’t stand by any longer and let bad theology hurt people. Happy Pride!

010

J. Dewveall @jdewveall.com · 01/06/2026

I thought I was being compassionate. I thought I was being loving. I realize now that I was causing real, emotional harm to the friends I loved dearly.

J. Dewveall @jdewveall.com · 01/06/2026

As I got older, I made friends in the church who were homosexual. They kept it mostly secret because they believed it was sinful too. I would pray with them, asking God to help them.

100

J. Dewveall @jdewveall.com · 01/06/2026

I grew up in a Christian tradition that believed homosexuality was a sin, an abomination in the eyes of God. I learned all the Bible verses that reinforced this idea, and internalized it myself.

Echoes of violence that you’re calling light Shining on those who you find appalling Even got the sheep exalting all the pain you’ve justified Selling ‘em Canaan at the cost of carnage Offering freedom that they can’t get ‘hold of Even though you swear it’s all love There’s a snake inside the garden

There’s something so special about discovering new music live and in-person that these “social” media platforms will never be able to replicate. I wish I could get in a room with each and every one of y’all and sing the songs from my new album for you. #MusicSky

Have you ever stayed quiet about something you were wrestling with because you were afraid of losing family & friends? One of my biggest fears was that asking certain questions about my faith would cost me relationships with the people I loved. So I stayed quiet & wrestled alone for way too long.

J. Dewveall @jdewveall.com · 28/05/2026

I poured my whole heart into this music, so I made a special First Edition CD of Consequent Nature with just as much heart and soul as the music it contains. Let me know if you want to know where to get one before they’re all gone. #americana

Just put the 10th copy of the First Edition Consequent Nature CD in the mail. We’re a quarter of the way through the 40 copies. Will you be the one to grab the 11th? Woke up in a cold, cold sweat My hands were shakin’ Had a dream that I’d just as soon forget Of losing everything

J. Dewveall @jdewveall.com · 06/05/2026

About the album: Consequent Nature is my attempt to trace a relationship that has slowly shifted over time. It’s about a version of me that once was, and a version of me that’s still taking shape. The title comes from an idea that nothing is untouched by what it goes through.

J. Dewveall @jdewveall.com · 06/05/2026

This is proof that you don’t need AI, or a big budget, to make something beautiful and compelling. Get out there, make some music. Make some art. Tell your story. Have fun!
