I know you want to play GTA6, I know you want to play it on a PS5 Pro, I promise you, it is not worth this much. No game is. Do not let GameStop get you with this obvious scam. Just stop shopping there, tbh. This is just a completely anti-consumer move.

The main "Amazing Spider-Man" #1000 story by Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz is a bit of a miss for me, despite some cool visual and narrative elements. That being said, the Noah Hawley & Patrick Gleason story is a 10/10 banger, absolutely phenomenal. (Bendis & Immonen's story was also pretty great!)

Midnight Suns and Guardians of the Galaxy are both absolutely incredible and among the greatest comic book games ever made, but both stumbled right out of the gate because people were still sour on Marvel's Avengers (which is also better than it got credit for).

I should have been clearer over the nonsense in the original post but word counts. The "controversy" is that Erika Ishii was announced as joining the project.
Article from Polygon trying to spin Double Fine working with Erika Ishii as controversial. It reads:

"Double Fine reveals Erika Ishii will work on the game funded by Kickstarter campaign

Ishii, whose acting credits include Atsu from Ghost of Yõtei, Valkyrie from Apex Legends, and Lady Deathstrike from X-Men '97, has become a controversial figure among a segment of the fandom due to their open views about gender, sexuality, and politics. The Amnesia Fortnight campaign has, at the time of writing, raised $558,000 against its initial goal of $400,000."

Spent the long Labor Day weekend hanging out with the new girlfriend, went to my first concert (Hayley Williams in Alpharetta! Fucking slapped!), and ate way too many funny-flavored Oreos (the banana pudding ones are a huge letdown). Anyways, hiatus over. Let's make some cool shit.

You can't make this shit up, unlike Dobby, which is an entirely made-up creature.
Excerpt from the article about moving an undersa cable to avoid fictional character Dobby's grave.

"The firm then enlisted planners to find a new route that avoided the supposed grave. “A lot of people were very happy about that, and the project is now going [ahead] and Dobby’s happy.”

In the end, he said, “we went quite close to some real Bronze Age remains, but we avoided Dobby’s grave”.

The Bronze Age remains include urns associated with human burial."

Well, Blade is officially dead-dead, I guess. A phenomenal dropped ball on the part of Marvel Studios. www.gq.com/story/mahers...
Exceprt from a GQ interview with Mahershala Ali.

It’s been seven years since Mahershala Ali walked out at the end of a Marvel panel at Comic Con to reveal blockbuster news that seemed both shocking and like a slam dunk: he was going to be the MCU’s Blade. The announcement was met with rapturous applause in the room and universal praise online (including one writer—OK, it was me—who simply tweeted, “HOLY F—.”) Almost a decade later, Ali made a brief, voice-only cameo in the post-credit scene for the MCU’s Eternals— and that was it.

At this point, Ali has officially moved on. “If they wanted to do it, we would've done it,” he tells GQ of Marvel’s failure to launch his Blade movie. (Marvel’s Kevin Feige has blamed the delay on a script that never came together, while admitting that he felt like “a gigantic loser and a failure” after the project foundered.) But in the course of his long, ultimately unsuccessful journey to bring the vampire hunter back to the big screen, Ali acquired the necessary skills—and connected with the perfect director—to make a film he says might be the most rewarding work of his career, which is quite the bold statement from a two-time Oscar winner.

It's from "Knight Terrors." Deadman enters Batman's dreams while possessing him, and as a result they take on a merged appearance. As for why the figure exists, McFarlane is losing the license at year end, so they're just dropping a bunch of stuff right now.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)
3 1/2 stars

Christopher Baggett’s review published on Letterboxd:

    "It's your turn."

The bad? You can see the seams where this was laid out as, if not originally intended to be, a new season of the show. There's not realistically a lot here to justify this not just being Season 4. The Dave Filoni cameo(s) are a little distracting. Sigourney Weaver is sorely underutilized. There's an obvious expectation that you already know some of the characters from Rebels who appear, so they don't get huge introductions.

The good? Everything else. I'm sorry, but you're just being weird if you hate this. It's just a fun romp with good action. It's good to see Mando being the biggest badass in the room again, and then to see him immediately get put in his place by a fight that I almost expected to have a Dark Souls style health bar. Grogu gets some development, and the nature of his and Mando's relationship moves forward a bit. Rotta is a spectacular character.

It's not a 5/5, but it's far from a 1/1. I do wish it had been a little bigger, a little grander, a little more epic, but I also had a blast with this. It's a perfectly fine popcorn movie, and sometimes that's all a movie needs to be.

Look, Absolute Batman has, in general, been a very good book with a lot of really cool ideas, but the scale of this slice of the universe is just totally fucked. Everything is just taller by an order of magnitude. Maybe I'm the weird one; people seem to be digging it, but I find it overwhelming.

Did a GameRant writer get their wires crossed when writing up this piece or did they just accidentally leak a huge upcoming Legends figure?
Text from a GameRant article that seems to spoil a Cavillrine Marvel Legends figure: "Since Deadpool & Wolverine premiered on the silver screens in July 2024, Hasbro launched over half a dozen figures inspired by the film's many renditions of the iconic characters. The still-ongoing product wave has so far yielded battle-damaged versions of Wolverine and Deadpool, a distinct depiction of Logan wearing a half-brown suit, Deadpool with Dogpool, Cowboypool, and even a figurine of the joke Wolverine portrayed by Superman alumni Henry Cavill in the film. That's on top of offering miscellaneous merch, including a prop replica of Wolverine's mask on a stand."

I'm not as upset about organic web-shooters as the rest of the Internet has been since 2002, but I'm still not a fan. They remove the focus from Peter's intellect, which none of the movies have really gotten right if we're being honest. I'm betting the film walks them back by the end, though.

I do love that they're actually using the living, breathing MCU for something. I was dreading the 20-minute "Spidey meets Punisher" set-up, but nah, they already met off-screen, and I'm fine with that. Good use of Banner for this plot, too. Wonder if we'll find out if Hulk remembers?
