Thank you for doing this work, Emma. We are all indebted to you. As government considers the proposed takeover of ITV and ITV /(C4) News, your work is a salutary reminder of the benefits of plurality and critical thinking when so few media owners seem able to do it.

Sorry Otto. I’m an OAP freedom fighter bringing down corrupt corporate-state, blood-soaked marriage by not buying anything from tech-bro companies. I hope you won’t not mind me buying the book?

Oh yes. Thanks. So birds and fish are more akin and less of a food group risk then. Is that due to digestive processes in fish or the physiology of the two species?

I recently re-watched the movie Heaven’s Gate. Whatever the artistic merits of this movie it’s sharp observation of “monied greed” using cruelty and barbarism to blame immigrants to control its power-money monopolies is as irrelevant today as it’s always been.

One of the reasons they went for the BBC so early and covertly was because our broadcast media is world leading - in no small measure due to the BBC. Sadly the same cannot be said for print which is why the daily mail et al continue to produce Fox News like right wing propaganda.

Why did the UK keep re-electing a government whose austerity economics was killing their communities and future? Why did a content European nation allow itself to leave Europe? The answer is complex and simple I suppose. Cf readership of Daily Mail.

A British political commentator made an observation about our appalling ex Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He said any man who is willing to cheat on his wife/s as many times as he has will be very comfortable in lying and cheating the public… apply the same formula to Trump and his cronies.

Jon Stewart hit the nail on the head. For decades, politicians used 9/11 heroes as photo-ops, only to turn their backs when those same first responders needed healthcare for toxins that destroyed their bodies. Basic human decency shouldn't require a public shaming campaign!

Yes! Only the Greens in the UK have the courage to even broach these ideas. The toxic legacy of Thatcherite-economics has left our media, education, BBC and our voters weak-minded, seekingly unable to conduct basic critical thinking and fearful.

God I hope so. I fear the Trump regime will fix/stop/curtail the elections and impose martial law. Then in full fascism with the international bases loaded with Putin, Netanyahu, et al we will have full Orwell. Only the EU will be safe/democratic but the UK has already damaged that coalition.

Yes I can believe that. We’ve prioritise profit over people and revered wealth over wisdom so now we reap what we’ve sown. The thing is, people agree modern capitalism is not fit for purpose but then cite the same system’s economic models for why it can’t be changed. Paradigm blindness?

It does feel like the world is at a tipping point. What worries me most is that the people with the money and power now acquired that quickly and with skills that are borderline sociopathic. Colonising planets & cryogenic fantasies set against planetary & human barbarism reveal their true values.

The BBC was always an establishment platform but it stood for something, like the World Service promoting British values etc. When the lie of Thatcherite nation building crumbled, Tories doubled-down & abandoned any pretence of values. Preferring an ideological coup. They poisoned the BBC.
