Happy #WorldTeachersDay, everyone! You know what they say, if they have to give you an appreciation day it means they’re not paying you enough. 😁😉

Teacher trolls say that we “indoctrinate children”. I’d rather “indoctrinate” adults into caring about properly funded and well-supported public education. 🤷🏾‍♂️ #OntEd

This Thursday I'll be taking part in a virtual panel discussion about A.I. in classrooms, hosted by the Toronto Star. Is A.I.? my area of expertise? Not by a long shot, but I'll be sharing the perspective of a classroom teacher. #OntEd

One problem with #OntEd's new attendance policy is that the people who made it greatly underestimate parents' willingness to authorize absences to protect their child's marks.

Difficult stories are not obstacles to democratic education. Learning how to communicate about them are conditions for it.

Feeling a little nostalgic thinking about how even during the darkest times (early pandemic remote teaching) there were some bright spots, like my family helping me film a smoke bomb experiment in the backyard! I don't know what the neighbours thought was going on! 😂

My collection of marvel cards has lived in the same binder for over 30 years. It’s literally falling to pieces! Time to rehouse them.

To paraphrase the late DMX, "I've been doing this for 19 years. Wanna fight me? Fight these tears!" Since year 1 I've kept count of how many students I've had the privilege of directly teaching. As of now, my number is 2,670. Still loving what I do! ❤️
A hand written letter from a student. Text reads:

Dear Mr. Bradshaw,
I'm grateful to have had you for two semesters teaching me the two subjects I'm most interested in. Your teaching style was amazing and helped ma grow as a learner. As the year comes to an end, I want to say that I appreciate you greatly for not teaching me valuable lessons that I can use in my academics, but also lessens I can apply outside of school.
You have helped me trust myself mere and become more confident, in my abilities, I'm usually not afraid to take risks and get answers wrong, and you have shown me why that is essential do becoming a better learner.
Your impact during my last year at Castlebrooke has helped me realize why I enjoy STEM, It's because every subject comes together like a puzzle and becomes fun to understand, even when it's complex.
Thank you se much for answering my many questions and never stopping me from being serious as a learner.. hope you have a nice, relaxing summer where you can watch all your favourite anime, play your favourite games, and spend time with your friends and family!
With gratitude,
(Your student from 2025-2026 Biology and chemistry classes)

What does it do to a generation of young people when all you hear is, “you’re not as literate as you should be, screen time is rotting your brain, and none of it matters anyway because A.I. will take your dream job”?

There's a reason why the Ontario government has to keep "banning" phones (3rd time since 2019). It's because there's never any action or support beyond a press release. Any actual regulation always is and always has been up to the classroom teacher #OntEd

Every parent and educator in Ontario needs to be alarmed that Paul Calandra is visiting charter schools. His government has starved our public schools of resources. The next page in the Conservative playbook is to offer privatization as the solution to problems they caused.

Why has the TDSB supervisor rescinded a class size cap?
Trustees voted last March to cap class sizes in grades 4 to 8 at a maximum of 32 students. The TDSB’s supervisor rescinded that directive

Standardized testing rant: Standardized means the same for all, even when it is not equitable or fair. This means that a nonverbal child is not allowed to point to the letters they know. If they can’t SAY the letters aloud they score zero on the test. This is the worst timeline.
