Bruce Banner and Joe Fixit both have a tight 5 ready to go right now. The Big Guy also has what he thinks is a tight 5, but it’s just five minutes of Film Crit Hulk-esque stupid-hulk-uses-big-words gags. Devil Hulk needs time and it will either bomb or be Bernie Mac level legendary.

Sometimes I think this is why I like Falcom’s games so much. On some level, they’re basically “what if we kept making PS2 era RPGs, but occasionally update things to take advantage of faster computers?”

Alas, Vacherot’s title defense hopes look slim. Paul looked awful in Tokyo, so I like Vacherot’s chances to get to R16, but there he likely meets Alcaraz and that’ll be it.

Just to use two bands that are reasonably popular with my age cohort, particularly those who went into tech, as examples: An AI trained on Undertow and Ænima is never going to give you Lateralus. An AI trained on Pablo Honey, The Bends, and OK Computer is never going to give you Kid A.

*extremely tired voice*AI agents don't "go rogue". They are not sentient; they don't have agency. They work within guardrails set by humans. If the humans are so shit at building secure sandboxes for the agents to work within, that's on the humans. Stop using this framing.

I know Cold Steel 2 is a consensus pick for being one of the weakest games in the series, but as someone who is a real sucker for a good “getting the band back together”, as well as a Suikoden-esque “the base keeps changing as you progress”, it’s one of my favorites.

Hey remember when Our Lady Peace made a whole album inspired by one of his books? Also, my first job was tech support for assistive technologies in the mid 90s, which means I’ve done a lot of “wait, the text to speech guy said *what*?!” in my life.

Sugar Ray was almost of the first kind, but they decided to lean into it and had a second hit with “Every Morning”.

I dunno, if Zanarkand had Evas then Bevelle would have actually deployed Vegnagun, and then… Actually, yeah. It probably doesn’t end well for anyone on Spira, but it definitely does *not* lead to the events of FFX.

I dunno man, one time I got up and walked out of Bravo because fifteen minutes after we were seated no one had even so much as come to our table. The service can be bad, but it at least has to exist.

After informing my kids that they would need to practice their band instruments at least two to three times a week this summer to avoid backsliding, I presented each with a template for practicing, including warm-ups, technical drills, and melodic exercises, along with a selection of method books.

The subsequent games are admittedly much more legible, and I do like the combat in those, but the positioning system and setting up combos are I think the best part, and unless I am misremembering, the first game didn’t have those wrinkles.

This is admittedly more of an accessibility issue than a design flaw, but the judgement ring in the first Shadow Hearts game is completely unintelligible if you’re red-green colorblind.

The way vocal harmonies can turn what would be the wildest dissonance on any instrument into the most beautiful sound you’ve ever heard is the very best.
