I am really not convinced a 3 game series is any better than the 1 game wild card. Since 2022 one team has lost the first game and gone on to win the series. If you include the 2020 wild cards, there have been three. Personally, I enjoy the drama of a 1 game wild card better.

Season 2022 - 4 total series with 3 sweeps, game 1 winners went 4-0, host teams were 1-3.
Season 2023 - 4 total series with 4 sweeps, game 1 winners went 4-0, host teams were 2-2.
Season 2024 - 4 total series with 3 sweeps, game 1 winners went 4-0, host teams were 1-3.
Season 2025 - 4 total series with 1 sweeps, game 1 winners went 3-1, host teams were 3-1.
Season 2026 - 4 total series with 3 sweeps, game 1 winners went 4-0, host teams were 3-1.
Total since 2022 - 20 total series with 14 sweeps, game 1 winners are 19-1, host teams are 10-10.

Season 2020 - 8 total series with 6 sweeps, game 1 winners went 6-2, host teams were 5-3.
Season 2022 - 4 total series with 3 sweeps, game 1 winners went 4-0, host teams were 1-3.
Season 2023 - 4 total series with 4 sweeps, game 1 winners went 4-0, host teams were 2-2.
Season 2024 - 4 total series with 3 sweeps, game 1 winners went 4-0, host teams were 1-3.
Season 2025 - 4 total series with 1 sweeps, game 1 winners went 3-1, host teams were 3-1.
Season 2026 - 4 total series with 3 sweeps, game 1 winners went 4-0, host teams were 3-1.
Total since 2020 - 28 total series with 20 sweeps, game 1 winners are 25-3, host teams are 15-13.

@dszymborski.fangraphs.com Curious if you could help me settle an argument. How much would the ZiPS playoff odds change if the Cubs were hosting the series? All else being the same, just trying to understand how much home field impacts the WC series.

@dszymborski.fangraphs.com Do you expect the Cubs to carry Horton? My expectation was they would add Assad to get to 13 pitchers and Horton would come back if they make the NLCS.
