I absolutely LOVE this concept! This would be so much better than stilted Alexa chats, or Siri offering to show me if I ask the question again on my phone.

I can’t be the only developer who sees the word AI and inside screams “oh, fuck off!” I use AI to debug because I like how it can trawl through data at speed. But AI is not smart, it’s killing the planet, it’s made me sceptical of all I see and read online, and it’s making rich people richer.

The Peter Thiel-Linked Race Science Network that Penetrated Cambridge University and Targeted Jason Arday
The media's coverage of the academic's life was fuelled by the campaign of an established far-right network

For anyone who thinks Jason Arday wasn’t hounded because he was black, I’ll just leave this here. With over 3 million papers submitted every year, this interest in the ‘truth’ would have meant plagiarism in academia should have been front page news. Every day. For decades.
A recent meta-analysis (combining the results of multiple previous studies) estimated that 2.9 percent of researchers had admitted to plagiarism or other types of misconduct – falsification or fabrication of data. Another study estimates that 1.7 percent of researchers have plagiarised while 30 percent have witnessed others plagiarising. This discrepancy might be due to individuals’ reluctance to admit their own misconduct and the greater likelihood of observing others’ behaviour.

Here’s a thought: maybe don’t replace the nuclear weapons, because they are F**KING EVIL. Article from the Economist.
Mark Rutte, the secretary-general of NATO, told the European Parliament that Europe would still rely on America for its future defence, and that if anyone thought Europe could defend itself they should "keep on dreaming".
Europe would have to spend more than the 5% of GDP on defence it has pledged, he said; replacing nuclear weapons would cost billions.

I do feel like this is a perfect moment for the western world to ween itself off its USA dependence. I think we help provide the US with its global power by buying into the narrative. It’s not that we make it powerful — it can do that itself — but we are a key ingredient.
