High budget stuff!! So different nowadays but it had a certain charm, and Tom Baker had such a charismatic presence about him. Instantly recognisable voice

I watched some of the Baker episodes recently and the effects that made us go behind the sofa are hilarious. People crawling around in green bubble wrap pretending to be massive larvae!

I was at the Riverside studios in Hammersmith recently where they filmed the first 3 series of Doctor Who. Tom Baker was 'my' Doctor, and I met him at a book signing once. Sadly my brothers and I don't have the signed book. David Tennant is my fave recent Dr and my son is really into it.

Have gone to her one, now ghostly, house with a sleeping bag as no room there. Guest room is stuffed with packing boxes, some of which I might peek into tomorrow. Problem is I have fibromyalgia and currently feel tired and brain fogged. Hopefully I'll have some semblance of a brain in the morning

He and his wife have retreated North again but he hasn't escaped! Middle bro moved to NZ, very sensible! Comes home for UK Summers then heads back again

My brother was in Middlesex for last 7 years before retiring so was closest to Suffolk. He has to do all that, getting TV/computer working etc etc. As if he wasn't busy enough running a prep school with all the high expectations from the parents. He'll miss the amazing music though

Still stuck in that stage where rapidly growing kids (25, 22, 17) still need us but mother does too. Similar with mother-in-law whose husband died recently. She is local so we take up a lot of the slack. Need to teach her how to use heating as her husband did all that sort of thing.

She doesn't always show much gratitude, especially to my brother who has been at her beck and call for several years, especially after our Dad died. Fora lot of his career brother was a head teacher in Yorkshire prep schools like Brontë House near Idle (as in Working Men's Club of Idle!)

Just off to visit mine who needs help after moving into a warden assisted flat. Oldest brother took most of the hassle last week, I'll be sorting through boxes and giving moral support, hopefully no serious incidents (though they have been known to happen).

New novel (though not a recent publication) for reading on the way to my Mum, is The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende. I've read some of her later novels, but this is her first and is already captivating me with its combination of humour, magic, and tragedy. A brilliant author

I loved reading stories to my children when they were younger and have precious memories of being read to by my father. Not only does it reinforce a loving relationship through shared joy, it instils a lifelong love of reading, which in turn broadens children's horizons. Irreplaceable

Of course, the problem is that I have to finish off the Porter I used instead of Guinness. Such a shame!

Nigella Lawson's Guinness cake in the oven. For fans of #GreatBritishBakeOff #GBBO the bakers made a mess of it by trying to make it fancy. I don't think it needs improving, normally comes out well. First time in our oven at new house though so we shall see. #birthdaycake

Likewise, not a fan of horror films but this elevates it to a different level, thanks to the incredible acting by the leads, and the original material. The book is superb too. Wasn't a fan of Hannibal, seemed to be more of a comedy and lacked intensity of original.

I applaud you for your courage, not only in writing this, accessing deeply held trauma, but also for sharing it with us. Definitely worth continuing, I have found it very helpful in the past

I also thought it would make a great song especially as it has a ready made chorus. Although the experiences you have suffered are awful I'm glad you have found a form for them and hope it is transformative in some way. Writing is so powerful when it comes from a place of vulnerability and pain

We have that and several other episodes on DVD. I loved 70s children's TV. Was at a very different pace to today's rather frantic programmes, though some like In the Night Garden are influenced by 70s, in that case The Magic Roundabout

You won't get tradesmen doing work because they enjoy it or for exposure so why apply that to the Arts?

I used to get paid in food for gigs in restaurants. Problem was, it wasn't my band and the others didn't want any money. Perhaps didn't occur to them that I might want to be paid. If you add up all the hours practising and apply even a low hourly rate it would be a decent sum.

There used to be an even tinier one called the Bike Shed theatre, not surprisingly under a bike shop. Sadly it's a cocktail bar now

Feel like I'm in a prison at the moment. Stuck on a plane in Bergen waiting for storms over Amsterdam to calm before we can leave. Fortunately we have a long time before next flight or it would be a problem. It's a prison with very little leg room, surprising as Dutch are amongst tallest in world!

Genesis The Musical Box would be appropriate, obviously Can Utility... is also Genesis. Coastliners is also one of @joannechocolat.bsky.social excellent novels so maybe that also influenced your choice
