Yeah... I was really unwell. I still am, but I'm trying to take care of myself. I'm just getting really shafted by austerity measures lately, my food stamps were reduced dramatically because I don't work 20 hours a week, but if I do work 20 hours a week I lose my disability, it's a catch 22.

It's often said that the bike doesn't matter, only who's riding it, and this is more often true than false. You don't need to be a pro either, you can genuinely get 80% of the way there with 20% of the work. Learn what you can on youtube and ignore industry plants like GCN. Cycling is for everyone

It's really easy to fall into the trap of high end bike marketing and come out thinking you won't have the money to pick up cycling. You can get 95% of the way there with 10% of the cost That last 5% in performance is costly because of professional cycling. Your daily commute is not that.

It's not a big deal if you didn't overspend on the bike. Fixed gears are also an option but there's a learning curve to riding them, if you master that learning curve, they are extremely simple to maintain.

Avoid walmart bikes or cheap mountain bikes like the plague. Hybrids on the other hand, honestly please consider them, they are gravel bikes without all the marketing upsells and a fraction of the cost. Make sure you get a U-Lock with a cable so it doesn't get yoinked, and even if it does...

A decent bike costs less than a full tank of gas now. Find what size bike is recommended for your height and then check your local craigslist for a bike in that size. Classic raod/racing bikes are affordable and easy to maintain. Hybrids are comfortable, inexpensive, and good bang for buck.

So uhhh, since gas prices are doing that... I'm going to start talking about bicycles. Many folks would actually be able to do more than you'd think with a bicycle. If your daily commute is 20 miles or less, you could probably train to be able to do this within a couple of weeks.

It sends the message that the best way to succeed in speedrunning is to find some untouched, uncontested game, make a basic route, polish it with some moderate effort, and then use your connections and nepotism to beat out the tryhards who spend years refining their skill.

Sometimes small communities form around a niche title and push it really far and their passion deserves a spotlight. I don't believe that's the case here. The game is from 2023 and has 5 runners. This isn't really enough time for a small community to even push a game into form.
