Finally finished. Prompt three of Spooky Spring: Fairy Forest. #SSAP2025 #art #digitalart #artistsonbluesky #faetrap

A white dog lays under an archway of curved, bare birch trees in a lush forest, lit by dappled sunlight. A footpath passes under the archway, disappearing into the distance. There is a subtle rainbow effect in the morning mist between trees. The dog stares at the viewer knowingly. He waits for you to pass.

I love the little pansy with this guy!

Wouldn't be a spooky spring if I didn't paint a weird animal in a forest. I could have easily put a dozen more hours into this one, and I'll probably revisit it in the future when I have more time. But I'm proud of what I managed to do in less than three days.

After this prompt, I have no concrete plans. I hope to do at least two more pieces, but I haven't decided which yet. I may just continue through the list at my own pace, but we'll see once this piece is finished.

A sneak peak at my next Spooky Spring piece, which will definitely not be finished today. Bit off more than I could chew with the background foliage. 😬 #artistsonbluesky #wip

Prompt two for Spooky Spring Art Party is "Ghost." My take on a woman-in-white/ "white lady" style haunting. #SSAP2025 #digitalart #art #artistsonbluesky #ghosts

A ghostly white female figure stands at a dark, rural railroad crossing, illuminated by headlights. Her face and wild hair are partially obscured in shadow. Her feet are covered in mud and she is pointing ominously to the left of the image, further down the tracks. In the distance, there are barely visible tire tread marks leaving the road in the direction she is indicating.

It's day one of Spooky Spring Art Party, hosted by @spookycutes.bsky.social! This is my offering for the first prompt, "Magic." #SSAP2025 #digitalart #art #artistsonbluesky #magic #devil #cartomancy

A young magician faces the viewer. He is wearing a 1920s style tuxedo with white bow-tie, a top hat cocked slightly to the left, and white gloves. He is blindfolded with a dark, navy blue fabric covered in golden stars. A thin handlebar mustache and chin puff beard frame his face. The magician is holding three playing cards between his fingers: the Jack of Spades, 3 of Diamonds, and King of Spades. A red devil figure with fangs and a full beard whispers gently in his ear.

My original idea for this prompt was a spellwork still life. But I rewatched The Prestige a couple weeks back and that aesthetic grabbed me hard. I was also inspired by turn-of-the century magician gig posters, especially the trend of red devil/ imp figures whispering in the performer's ear.

I've got some things in the works for Spooky Spring this year, but am probably not going to do the whole list this time. Usually by now I have 3-4 pieces done, but I've only mostly finished with one and thumbnailed another soooo...

Don't mind me, just obsessing about another cancelled show no one has seen. I've been trapped in a loop of just rewatching Pantheon the last couple weeks and had to art about it. #digitalart #art #fanart #artistsonbluesky #pantheonshow #pantheonAMC #vinodchanda

A bust of Vinod Chanda from the animated show Pantheon, in his corrupted form. He has gray skin marked with black tattoos along his neck and face, long white hair and a gold iris in black sclera. Two different length horns crown his head. The right side of the image is marred by digital breakaways and red error messages.

Another from '23. This was supposed to be just a quick sketchy thing that I ended up dumping 12+ hours into. As you do. #digitalart #art #artistsonbluesky #icarus #greekmythology

A large wing, strapped to a human arm, lies half-submerged in the shallows of a large body of water. Wax drips from between the feathers, catching the glow of early morning sunlight.

Hey thanks! I appreciate it!

Companion pieces, done about a year apart. Forest spirits that embody the careful balance of an ecosystem. #digitalart #art #artistsonbluesky

A deer stands in a dry, barren forest hazy with morning fog and old smoke. The deer's eyes shine unnaturally, his antlers burning with bright orange flame and trailing black smoke behind them. Sunlight streams past. He is looking directly at you.

A mountain lion stands across a small creek in front of a waterfall. The cat's eyes are opalescent and fixed on the viewer. There is moss growing in her fur, dotted with tiny white flowers. The same white flowers grow along the trail in her wake. Warm sunlight streams through the trees. You have stumbled across something old and powerful.

From last year. Inspired by church grims and folkloric black dogs. #digitalart #art #artistsonbluesky #folklore

A black wolf-like canid with flaming eyes creeps out from behind a partially ruined headstone in a snowy graveyard. The headstone is adorned with a winged skull, an hourglass and flowers, and partially reads: "__es buried. _ctober 3rd __ the year 1733. Aged 27 years."

One month until The Last of Us season two. I am not ready. To tide you over, here's a Joel portrait I did back in '23. "Hesitation Marks." #digitalart #art #fanart #artistsonbluesky #thelastofus #joelmiller #pedropascal

The good news is that I'll have a fair amount of older art to share here while I get back into making new work. I'm trying to decide how far back to even go, as my style has changed precipitously over the last few years. Maybe now would be a good time to revisit some of those old ideas.

Beginning the slow process of ditching Meta for good. My goal is to build my own website, but bluesky seems like a good landing place for now. I just want to be able to share my silly little arts and yell into the void sometimes without being relentlessly advertised to and scraped for data.

Yes hello, I am Jay. I draw spooky stuff and occasionally some fanart. #digitalart #art

A shrouded figure stands in a dark wheat field. The figure is wearing a black mask flanked by six golden wings, adorned with tiny bells. A golden halo hangs above, sharp like a scythe. Lighting cracks across the sky behind them.

A black rat snake lies tangled around the forked branch of a persimmon tree. A pale hand reaches up to pluck one of the five fruits from the branch while the snake watches.

A black bear stands facing the viewer with one foot on a small circus platform, a rope trailing down from a chain around his neck. A yellow starburst highlights a break in the chain. He is free, and he is coming.
