Oh hell yes. Did you know that the southeast US generally, and Alabama in particular, has an incredible diversity of land amd freshwater snails? Many of them are just now being discovered and described by science. Behold Elimia fascinans, aka the Bamded Elimia.

A freshwater snail about the size of the middle part of an adult pinky. It is shaped like an inverted cone, with a teardrop shaped aperture at the bottom. It has 4 whorls and the top most and smallest whorls have broken off. The shell is mostly shades of brown, like a varnished table that shows the wood grain. There are darker brown lines spiraling around the shell. The top most whorls have a slight keel. The snail is mostly retracted, protected by its operculum (small hard part that acts as a door to seal off the shell when retracted).

My partner made me an amazing sandwich with leftovers from the Donburi bowls she made last night. Sauteed broccoli, oyster mushrooms, chicken, and soy marinated eggs topped off with sririciha mayo on Dave's good seed bread. Bet even @lauren.rotatingsandwiches.com hasn't had a sandwich like this.
