Our pressing patterns ask our wingers to be in too many places at once, which gives the opposition a consistent out ball on the far side. A quick swing is all it takes to find it. If you can be chasing an open man in 2 passes something isn’t right in poor press set up #RBNY

I think Bradley sees the wingers as tucking in to create overloads, and worth coming from the fullbacks. But we just don’t have that kind of security in build up, and our OBs don’t burst forward like that on the counter. So it’s helpful to have a winger option who plays outside the box #RBNY

Look how wide Harper plays. Takes his man & bursts for the end line to get service into the box. It’s a bit old school, but it stretches space. We really need more of that in general. Our wingers crowd the half space so much on both sides that having that option from time to time is welcome #RBNY

Our squad is so poorly constructed. Zero depth, and little in the way of variety in profiles. On top of that Bradley isn’t using it well through a tight patch, which is now making his use of it in the early season look worse. We’re reaching “everyone’s overplayed or ignored” territory #RBNY

Still ruminating on how good Tim Ream was on the ball last night. He owned that left channel, first to Pulisic and later in to Tillman. The space in the middle was so crowded that the US rarely ever played through the lines. But Ream had that line breaker on a rope #USMNT

Arteta’s subs worked well for the game, but not for the penalties. Saka and Odegaard are probably taking pens in that sequence. And while Martin is 50/50 Saka is a better bet to make it than either guy who missed. That said I have nothing but love for every one of them #Arsenal
