The typical household gas bill has gone up by 33% since April. Clean renewable energy generation is Scotland's best path to energy security and lower bills.
Carbon Brief. Wind and solar save UK from gas imports worth £5.9bn during Hormuz crisis. Wind and solar have generated a record 41% share of the UK’s electricity needs in 2026 to date, compared with 25% from gas.

Scottish police officers have been deployed to Ireland to support the PSNI including in connection with policing in Portadown. Given the history and sensitivity surrounding Garvaghy Road and Drumcree, the decision raises legitimate questions about how such deployments are assessed and authorised.

This march was designed to spread tensions and hatred, and to intimidate the community and families who live there. Scotland should not be providing policing resources for sectarian events like this that are called to inflame tensions.
The National. Questions over Police Scotland officers sent to Orange Order walk. Scottish Greens are seeking clarity over the role of Police Scotland officers and demanding a review of the agreement that enabled their deployment.
