Hi #portfolioday! I'm Jan-Jaap. I'm a dutch illustrator and I'm looking for new fantasy art projects to take on. I do card/board/videogames and cover art 🎨

A re-imagining of an earlier painting by myself. Twilight at a lake. A moonlit five headed white heron is about to land on the eroded head of a statue, which is only just sticking out of the water.

Personal work. 2026
A Demon clad in green armor and a billowing white cape resembling wings flies among the towers of a gothic city at twilight. It's holding a collection of bells, signalling its arrival.

Two sphinxes perched atop a stone spire, bathed in moonlight

A flock of red imps flies from a cathedral carrying off its gold and spilling it while doing so.

Hi, I would be interested. My style is fairly similar to Joel's. Have a look at JaverusArt.com . I'm also Dutch if that is relevant. All the best, Jan-Jaap

I like how you used a big brush but the textures and lighting are spot on

It remains difficult to imbue my paintings with the emotions I'm looking for, but incrementally I'm getting closer. This one managed to capture a timeless feeling of magic I happy with.

European artists! The EU commission is opening a feedback on the use of AI in the cultural and creative fields. Their vision is clearly pro-use of AI, but we clearly have an opportunity to push back: ec.europa.eu/info/law/bet...

Always difficult to know when a painting is done. I'll probably look back at this in a few weeks and see things to fix and/or add. But at least for now my sphinxes are done :)

Artists! Quote with your fanart! El vs. the Maw-Mouth, from Naomi Novik's A Deadly Education

Fan art for Naomi Novik's "A Deadly Education". El is in the library, one hand holding "the Golden Enclaves" while the other is upraised, casting an oily black spell against the fleshy, gelatinous, tendrils of the maw-mouth.

From time to time when I feel like I've become a better painter I'll go over my older work to see if there's anything worth the time improving. I think it's the third time I've repainted parts of this one

Desmond is a very friendly monster and is hoping to find a home which will give him a place by the fire on long winter nights and maybe a little paddling pool of his own in the summer. buff.ly/kZgaQJ2 Desmond will no longer be available after 18th August. Last chance to adopt is now! #adoptamonster

Hi Emily! would you say the course is mostly aimed at helping artists find consumers/customers? Or would it also help for targeting companies (say Wizards of the Coast) for work?
