This trip was 100% spur-of-the-moment, also. @ori.is.dog was going to go alone, and I decided to join literally a week before leaving. I couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide/travel companion :3

Overall this trip was amazing! Japan is somewhere I didn’t know a ton about before visiting, and didn’t really know what to expect. Tokyo was just as crazy and overstimulating as promised, but I really found that the countryside/mountains around Gunma/Nagano were surprisingly amazing.

Saturday was our day to fly home, but our flight wasn’t until later in day. So we stored our luggage at Ueno station, and went back to Tsukiji market in search of much better sushi than we had the night before. We wound up at a quiet counter tucked in one of the alleys, and it was fucking amazing!

After returning the car in Takasaki, we took the commuter line back to our place in Shinjuku. That night we went up to Ikebukuro and got the most mid conveyer belt sushi ever, then went to the gay bar area of Shinjuku to hang out at a furry bar for a while.

Here’s pics from the final 2 days in Japan! Friday we started in Ueda, and headed back to Takasaki to return our rental car. On the way we took some super windy roads following a stream up/down the mountains. It was crazy spending like 2 hours of that drive without seeing another car on the road.

Yesterday we spent the whole day driving on super twisty mountain roads between Gunma and Nagano. We got soba for lunch east of Nagano City, and visited a big Shinto shrine in Togakushi. Dinner was at an Izakaya down the street from our hotel in Ueda, and we walked the castle ruins after.

The last 2 days we have been driving around the mountains northwest of Tokyo! Wednesday night we stayed at a very nice traditional Japanese ryokan in Kusatsu, relaxed in the onsen, and had an amazing dinner.

Tonight’s adventure was back down to Shibuya to see when it’s like when it’s not typhooning :P While down there we went through Tower Records, and grabbed dinner/drinks next to Miyashita Park.

Just got back to the AirBnB after a long day out! We hit up Tsukiji Market for lunch, then up to Tokyo Skytree to go to a knife store. Then we walked to Sensoji, toured the temple, and continued to Ueno, before taking the train back to Shinikubo.

More M3 updates! Last week it went to a friends place to get a full 2 step polish, and ceramic coat. There’s definitely spots where you can still see the age/milage, but given that caveat it looks fucking amazing! It’s soooooo rewarding seeing where this car started, and how it is now :3

The show last night was amazing! Geddys voice sounds better than it has in like 15 years, and he is still one of the craziest bass players alive, Alex is still goofy, and absolutely shreds, and Anika Niles is an absolute monster on drums. Can’t wait to see them again on Thursday!

I’m also seeing them in Cleveland later this week, which I’m super excited for! It sounds like they are changing the setlists a bunch night-to-night, so it will be cool to see back to back shows.

I’ve been doing a ton of work on the M3 over the last few weeks. I’m prepping it for a full polish + ceramic tomorrow, and yesterday got a new set of wheels/tires on! Just the wheels alone change the look soooo much, and with the new tire sizes it should be a completely different car on track :3

Adapting RCA to 1/4” is easy. The important part is making sure it has a built in preamp, which that table does!

Bring it up in a retro if you do those, and if you don’t, start doing them. We do them regularly, and for me it’s been a good place to talk about changes I wanna make to team norms, but also make sure everyone buys in to them and is accountable.

It’s kind of wild seeing how quickly he is learning more, saying more, and doing more. I also think that we are getting better at managing our plans, and setting things up for success. Little things like driving to Philly during nap time, and having snacks/drinks on deck for going to the zoo.

It also helps that Robin is like, completely unfazed by traveling. We stayed in 3 different places, drove 1,200 miles, spent time with tons of new people, and had pretty variable sleep schedules, and he handled it great!

But everything was great. It was also difficult, tiring, and periodically stressful. But still great. It was very reassuring to have 5 sets of aunts/uncles around to relay their toddler experiences, and get some context on ours.

The wild-card here is doing all of this with a 2.5 year old, of course. We didn’t really know how all of this would go; how he would handle all the travel, how we would handle it. How my extended family would handle meeting my girlfriend, her husband, and our son :P

Sunday we wanted to break up the drive some, so we stopped for lunch in Philly, and hit the Zoo before heading north. Overall, 10/10 time :3

Smudge joined us Friday, and we spent the weekend around Wilmington for the wedding. The wedding was amazing, and super fun!

This past weekend my sister got married down in Delaware. So Rachel, Robin and I went down Monday night and were joined by Smudge Friday. We had tons of family in town all week down at the shore house, and had a bunch of fun hanging out, cooking, and boating!

Then there was the motorcycle trip to Lake Placid, which was really nice and relaxing, however was most definitely 3 days in a row with 5+ hours on the bike.

This past few weeks have been absolutely jam packed, but super awesome :3 Started with Furrydelphia trip with Rachel. We brought Robin down to stay with my parents, which was his first time staying overnight with family. They had a fun few days, and Rachel and I had a blast at the con :3

This past weekend I took the Multistrada on its first real touring trip! @ori.is.dog @kinter.deer.place and I rode up to Lake Placid Friday, explored the area Saturday, and swung around Lake George on the way home Sunday. That was by far the most riding I’ve done in a weekend! (15hrs, 750miles)

I used a soft bike cover when I didn’t have an inside bike spot a few years back. That worked pretty well, even through the winter.

I remain committed to actually doing 30 of these! However, I have been pretty busy over the last few weeks with family stuff. I’m preparing a bunch of things to play for my sister’s wedding though, so that should give me a handful of things to post in the next week or two :3

The only things I’ve noticed so far is that I have to manage brake temps, and power steering fluid temp. I haven’t had a problem with either, but I can tell there would be if I did more than 5 or so hotlaps without a cooldown.

First real (not rainy Autocross) track day with the M3! 2 sessions out of 4 done. So far the car is doing great!
