It is, quite literally, the same DRM they announced with the Xbox One that everyone hated. Same exact thing! Patent and all! But now they get to claim it's for preservation, not DRM.

Tonight we went to see Interstellar in full-size IMAX at the Smithsonian. I hadn't seen it since it first came out. It's definitely aging really well. I still dislike some bits at the end, but it remains a great, smart, original sci-fi film. We could use a lot more of those.

Finished Wolverine. What a great game! Absolutely polished to AAAA quality, and the story cleverly remixes Marvel lore in interesting and unique ways. Exactly the kind of thing I want to play this time of year. Can't recommend it enough.

Well that's cool. One of my earliest production credits! It always irked me that we didn't have a PC port. I'd love to see @nightdivestudios.bsky.social take this up some day.

Considering the ages of those returning X-Men actors, I'll just assume they're all from natural causes.

Oh, wow. Introversion updated DEFCON for its 20th anniversary. This game is *brilliant*. A perfect example of the power of games as an art form. It's on sale for peanuts, too. A great excuse to pick it up. store.steampowered.com/news/app/152...

Consider this a reminder that the Golden Globes are completely absurd. Also, I would totally watch Obsession: The Musical. Especially if it were given an exhuberant Broadway title like, "Obsession! A New Musical" www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...

What odds are you giving for: Ramones or Nightdive? Maybe I'll put my money on something less obvious, like the Fugs.

Kinda both? I bought an empty (but custom skinned!) cabinet kit from VirtuaPin and put everything into it myself. I didn't think myself capable of woodworking or anything like that. Plus this thing is a TANK.

I can see that argument being made for the commercial ones (although personally I really like Pinball FX) but the community creations are WILD. Check out what's been done with VPX. Both recreations of classic tables and originals. Some really talented people out there.

My machine has three monitors (backglass/DMD/playfield), 12 feedback motors, and real buttons/plunger. It feels pretty great, but there are versions that are even more realistic.

Yet. Alas, I never bought one. Instead I built a full-sized virtual pinball machine. Feels like the real thing, but I can have infinite variety.

Fired up The Witcher 3 Remastered tonight. Took me a few minutes to remember how to play, and much longer to go through the new skill tree, but then I fell right back into it. God I love this game. Can't wait for Songs of the Past!

Do you know what I would have given for a show like NYCC when I was a growing up in NY? I went to all of them, but man, those Big Apple cons were so bad.

If Sluggo wants to style himself like he's on his way to a Bosstones show circa 1995, who's to say he shouldn't? If Nancy can look past his woims, certainly she can accept his sartorial excellence.

I keep a Tempest cabinet (well, a replica...it's an Arcade 1up I modded to be more arcade accurate) behind me in my office. But the one I put on the list there is Tempest 2000, the gonzo Jeff Minter version for Jaguar. One of my all-time favorite games.

I took my 80 year old father to see it at Christmas that year, and HE liked it! I'm pretty sure he'd never seen a Godzilla or kaiju movie in any form. Generally doesn't like genre at all, either.

Ignore the haters: Wolverine is fantastic. Great story, three button combos and mild parrying, extremely light stealth mechanics, gorgeous graphics, and polished to an absolute sheen. The kind of game I want to play at this time of year every year.

You can go back and read the Mick Anglo Marvelman stories if you want to, but they're as paper thin as you'd expect. Great fodder for Moore to reinvent. An equally good question: what is the point of Miracleman without the *Warpsmiths*. Because without them, it's just a Shazam clone.
