Texas was once a hotbed of wild west socialism – could it make a comeback?
Long before it became a rightwing political bastion the state was defined by cowboys on strike and farmers organizing

The US calling the new UN world map showing Africa closer to its actual relative size a “radical ideological project” is in keeping with the MAGA tagging of the obvious truth that gender is culturally and ideologically variable as itself “gender ideology.”

letter to the editor, Star Tribune:
Ceaseless bootlicking takes work. Bravo.
As we absorb the news of Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie’s Republican primary loss after he angered President Donald Trump (“Massie’s primary loss is a win for Trump,” May 21), I think we should take a moment to show appreciation for Minnesota’s Republican members of Congress: Michelle Fischbach, Pete Stauber, Brad Finstad and Tom Emmer.

In a political climate where even the slightest show of independent thinking or lack of devotion to the interests of Trump and his family brings immediate punishment, every one of them has managed to keep their head down, always do Trump’s bidding and avoid showing any semblance of autonomy or independent judgment. Sure, Trump opposed Emmer’s bid to be House speaker and called him a RINO, but, to his credit, Emmer managed to quickly swallow his pride and resume kneeling before Trump’s golden throne.

This shows a singular commitment to political survival, defined as devotion to the interests and whims of one extremely capricious and avaricious man. That can’t be easy, so let’s give credit where credit is due! As inflation spikes, corruption spreads and Trump calls for every perceived foe to be fired, imprisoned or executed, Emmer, Fischbach, Stauber and Finstad all have managed to keep themselves out of Trump’s sights, not even so much as whispering any questions about spending, for example, $1 billion for Trump’s ballroom or $1.8 billion for a slush fund for Trump’s friends. It must sometimes be difficult to look past the interests of your constituents and keep your mind always on pleasing your master, so kudos to them for doing such an excellent job of it!

All the places reviving the old genocide flag – which, let's be real, most of those folks were almost certainly utterly indifferent to in the past – is really depressing and reflects very badly on those towns. After the ICE invasion, I've never been so attached to a flag as I am to the new one now.
