The Braves opening the NLDS against the reigning World Series champion Dodgers with b2b bullpen games is NOT IDEAL. If only the Phillies didn't trip over their own feet. They'd at least have had a few viable SPs to trot out. The state of Atlanta's rotation is a dereliction of duty.

While removing Gray when the Red Sox did was likely the smart move regardless of the outcome based on probabilities, it's also less palatable from a watchability perspective to yank starters on 70-some pitches. Both can be true. Yeah, play to win, but it's also way cooler when starters pitch deep.

At least Lodge 49 got a second season, I suppose. Neither Terriers nor Rubicon were afforded that and both were deserving even if audiences didn't flock to them in the moment. All three shows deserved better fates.

My favourite show since 2000 is not on the NYT list and I'm not exactly surprised. Lodge 49 didn't get the love it deserved while it was on the air and it hasn't yet received it since its cancellation. It's a truly rich, almost Pynchonian experience, but I don't think that fully covers it

This seems a touch premature and unfair. Sure, Chapman could be broken, but his first two seasons with the Giants before this were better than anything Longoria did in San Francisco. They're not really that similar beyond being 30-something third basemen.

I saw the new Spider-Man. I can simultaneously recognize that it's probably the best Marvel movie since Endgame and that it ultimately did very little for me. Just reinforced that these movies simply aren't for me anymore. And yet, I'll almost certainly watch Doomsday. It's a sickness.

I used to work late night tech support for rural internet service one summer back in the 00s. I had an MLB.TV sub and watched a lot of West Coast baseball and was immediately hooked by Krukow and Kuiper that I've kind of become a Giants fan (beyond cheering Toronto and StL) simply because of them.

Multiple things can be true. - Prospect hugging is not a path to future success, so Arjun Nimmala was expendable. - Jose Soriano is a good starting pitcher who will help the Blue Jays rotation for multiple seasons - Nimmala was a good enough prospect that Soriano feels like a light return.

It's impossible to say for sure if The Odyssey is my favourite Christopher Nolan film after one viewing (it took three for me to feel that way about Dunkirk), but it is an enveloping, awe-inspiring, and very strange movie. It also feels like a last gasp of a bygone era in scope, style, and method.
