Happy media day for those who celebrate

Bob Marley never had a billboard top 40 hit. He didn’t have any certified gold records before his death. He was a very famous, successful touring musician but there really isn’t an parallel for his impact over the long term. I’m not sure he will ever be less famous than he was when he died.

Maybe nothing captures how the early to mid 90s actually felt like the song Jane Says (live). It created the emotional architecture that Nirvana inhabited. A relatable personal tragedy in an era before social media turned everything into a societal case study. It’s the ultimate time capsule.

I can’t help but think that Jimmy Butler and James Harden were big factors in LeBron choosing Philly. Had GSW or Cleveland been able to trade those guys I don’t think LeBron comes here. I just don’t think LeBron and Giannis fit from a basketball standpoint at all, so Miami became a tough sell.

The four million dollar player option in year two is hilarious on a level I cannot even articulate.

Lebron seems like a Geno’s guy.

Zach Lowe cameo on Your Friends and Neighbors. Impressive deep cut for an AppleTV show.

I don’t think small guard when I watch Philon on an NBA court. He’s shifty and maybe not Westbrook level strong, but I’m not seeing someone too slight to play.

000

Jason Blevins @jasonblevins.bsky.social · 09/07/2026

I wonder if LeBron James wants to go to Cleveland but doesn’t want to play with Harden. Delay is no one else wants Harden so a S&T isn’t happening.

No NBA player has won championships with four different franchises. In fact, only four players have won NBA titles with three different teams: Robert Horry, John Salley, LeBron James, and Danny Green.

I’m pro analytics. If your algorithm tells you Jaylen Brown is the 7th best player on your team, it’s proof your analytics are flawed. On / off splits, true shooting % and anything you see on B Ref aren’t analytics in 2026. Those are just new counting stats. Analytics have to go deeper.

Ben Simmons had 5 years to reflect on passing up on a dunk over Trae Young. Upon much reflection he went with “I wasn’t hitting my shit, so Matisse should have made his free throws”

Philon Jr. has elite handles, ball on a string. But even more than that, uses change of pace, hesitation, and timing extremely well. Doesn’t seem to be wasted dribbles. More efficient Jamal Crawford?

Oh cool a trillionaire, surely now that void inside his soul will be full and now he can be happy.

Just found out that Todd Snider died last fall. Really sad. What a treasure he was. Ballad of the Kingsmen still gives me goosebumps.

RIP Rob Base. He was known to rock the microphone.

Morey was an innovator who jumped the shark when he bought into the NFT hype. Made some great draft picks, had a generally strong scouting record but his philosophy doesn’t win on the margins. 10yrs later, Sam Hinkie’s legacy is stronger than ever. Sixers ownership took shortcuts to the middle

PG has one shot attempt in the first quarter? Going gently into that good night I guess

This is great stuff by Godner. The AllPHLY guys are doing fantastic work in the studio and writing. Kyle, Derek and QB Devon Givens are a consistently great team.

“We’re gonna fight. We’re gonna do whatever it takes” - Joel Embiid. “We’ve had good teams but this feels pretty different”

“I got a message to our fans… don’t sell your tickets. We gonna need you” - Joel Embiid on how Knicks fans tend to flood Philadelphia during games at home.

Agree. No more moral victories. Win the game.

Beef on Netflix is so incredibly good. Slow moving car wreck you just can’t stop watching.

Great story about a great guy. Matty Cord is a legend. Well done AK.

Is Payton Pritchard too important to the Celtics to play the fourth or do they just let him go get 40 tonight?

000

Jason Blevins @jasonblevins.bsky.social · 27/04/2026

I’d have bet $100 I wouldn’t have seen two straight dimes from Grimes to Bona. What a world.

Boston doesn’t think Embiid can defend at all. Going right at him.

“I just played every game like it was my last. It was simple to me, it was honestly simple to me. Go out there, give everything you got, every night, try to put on a show and thrill them and that’s that. Because any night could actually have been my last game” - Allen Iverson

Jason Blevins @jasonblevins.bsky.social · 22/04/2026

Remember that moral victory game back in 2021? Me neither. Gotta win this game.

Paul George can’t be taking less shots in a game than Kelly Oubre. Very glad to see VJ take a green light even if the shots were heavy. The makes will come.

Sixers are having to smash the turbo button for every shot attempt. Celtics pretty much have it on cruise control.

The modern world is reading an article about how young men are turning to Catholicism at 7am and driving by a Catholic Church on Easter at 8am to find 7 cars in the parking lot.

Crazy to think it’s been nearly 5yrs since I’ve stepped into an NBA arena. My last game covering the 76ers was the infamous Atlanta Hawks playoff series. My son bought tickets for tonight. So of course it’s against Atlanta.

Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is miles better than House of the Dragon. Simple story that doesn’t take itself too seriously. 10/10.

I think of Jane Says (Live) as the quintessential 90s alt rock song. More than anything by the top Grunge bands. So imagine my surprise finding out it was recorded in 1987!!! @augetoffmygold.bsky.social

Eagles just solved thier backup QB situation for next season. Teams aren’t trading a good pick for McKee.

VJ Edgecomb will be a two way star. Elite motor and bounce, no glaring weaknesses that limit his upside. The D Wade comps were legit.

Jason Blevins @jasonblevins.bsky.social · 26/10/2025

The Hornets clearly don’t believe Joel Embiid is still an elite rim protector. They are attacking him downhill.

L’Anse Aux Meadows is a UNESCO World Site and the only confirmed Viking settlement in North America. Proves that Vikings settled in Newfoundland around AD 950-1000. Fascinating place.

The Netflix series explains to much of the Micah Parsons debacle. Jerry has to be the star. Rich old man playing Connect Four and calling it Chess.

Sixers media day. Time to celebrate all the dedication, hard work and due diligence the Philly Media will devote over the next 10 months.

Crazy stat. Even crazier that they tracked it in 2016
