He won 2 elections. There are also a number of Republican congress people that have flipped on their supposed principles. It’s not just trump and Americans need to come to terms with that.

He’s opposed to trumps deal importing Russian oil. With that said he still looks like a fool because this ceasefire isn’t happening.

I....don't know what prompted this from the president today, but StatCan reported JUST this morning that in the past year, Canada experienced its slowest population growth since 1916. The country's population is essentially stalled right now.

Regardless where you stand on the issue the point is what he’s saying is just factually wrong.

Canada has had multiple quarters of population decline as a result of tighter immigration reform. He is making shit up

I love how killmeade is trying to help her and she’s like “we have a positive relationship with the violent and brutal dictator”

We know some of the discussions have revolved around work visas and critical minerals. There would be benefits around those two subjects for high skilled Canadians at least. Canadas wealth income inequality is driven mostly by housing and other structural issues.

Yea we have problems with wealth income inequality. Those issues need to be addressed. How would closer relations with Europe exacerbate wealth income inequality in Canada?

Canada has always had a resource economy and we aren’t a third world country. Just because we have a lot of resources doesn’t mean we will be exploited in the partnership. We also have more to offer beyond resources like a skilled workforce.

I do but I also think it depends what that integration looks like. I’m hopeful about being an “associate member” but hoping we get a better idea what that means soon.

I don’t understand the big deal. Just don’t watch the stream? Is there some controversy tied to the sponsor that makes this a problem?

I would be careful with getting your hopes up. We need to keep in mind trump is both a psychopath and an idiot. We really don’t know what he will do in response.

I mean depending on what being an associate member means this gives the UK a chance to build closer ties Willie maintaining sovereignty. Other countries outside Europe should also jump at this opportunity

The burden isn’t on Canada. It’s on the US. The US started the trade war, has repeatedly threatened us (even yesterday), made up lies about Canada, and insulted Canadians repeatedly. There government keeps trying to antagonize us not realizing they succeeded long ago.

Potash is huge but it doesn’t seem like Scott moe wants to use it and carny is either trying to respect that or agrees.

I don’t like Doug ford but I thought the sign was great. I am fine with spending money to stand up for our culture and sovereignty. Doug ford has plenty of other scandals to talk about

Considering carny moved the dst when trump told him to I don’t see digital trade being renegotiated favourably for Canada.

Yea and I think that’s bad. I think Scott moe should look at the country as a whole. Especially since the provision of the trump regime being able to approve deals is aimed at the deal with China which is supposed to help farmers in his province

Yes but that’s also a completely separate issue than what the question is asking.

I mean I think a clear example would be Scott moe refusing to use pot ash as leverage. We should use all leverage we have available

jashro.bsky.social @jashro.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
Well the question isn’t entirely about carney. It’s mostly about the provinces and the premiers.

It doesn’t matter if it represents the majority. It represents enough where trump became president. He still required a substantial amount of support

You speak as if the world didn’t change dramatically since the 1800’s. Also you say “neighborly” stuff as if Russia isn’t invading Ukraine, and India and Pakistan didn’t have a war last year. Being neighbours doesn’t mean getting along.

Being an ally isn’t just about fighting wars together (all though as you said we’ve done it) We’ve had the biggest unguarded border in the world, heavily integrated economies, we snuck US diplomats out of Iran in the 80’s and we brought Americans into our homes on 9/11.

If it makes you feel better it won’t happen. Carny and Scott moe have ruled that out. Same with Alberta oil. The most that could happen is Doug ford. I could see other premiers like wab kinew joining in.
