Founding member of US Delta Force, SGM Mike Vining, invites views on AI as an intelligence gathering tool over on the other site. I can’t comment but there’s opportunity for non-protected accounts to contribute their views.

I want to write a review that does this book justice, as I consider that those least likely to pick up this book and read it are those most in need of it. I think this may be one of the most important contemporary non-fiction books. What does it mean to be anti-semitic?

I've only this Summer resumed paying the Licence Fee, so that I could watch the World Cup. What is this, BBC News? Is the Earl Spencer story really in the public interest to this extent? Are there no other stories of significant interest worth mentioning? Imminent escalation in the Persian Gulf, etc

I'm not saying the FT's comments have gone downhill but this one is just straight-up racist. I wonder if the paper will bring in a real name policy for all comments?
GoszPressNadzsor comments on the article "Zack Polanski faces uphill battle in Keir Starmer’s former seat" in the Financial TImes:

"So it's either the Somalian or the dentistry-challenged b00b whisperer. I hope Count Binface joins in, then we have a proper clown show. And then people wonder why our government is so dysfunctional....."

T. Weizman responds to GoszPressNadzsor:

"Somalian-born but worked in, lived in, and contributed to this country for decades. What's wrong with that exactly?"

JKDB also responds to GoszPressNadzsor:

"Calling her Somalian is like calling Johnson a New Yorker. Get back to Facebook."

GoszPressNadzsor replies to JKDB with:

"Given her ostentative robes & head gear she clearly identifies as culturally Somalian. Can you name me top 10 inventions that came from that culture (banana rice & Khat chewing aside)?"

Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation In this dense book, Kristin Kobes Du Mez profiles the American Evangelical movement from the time of Theodore Roosevelt up to the end of the first Donald Trump presidency.

Saddened to discover that this artist, too, is entirely AI-generated.
Spotify bio for an entirely artificially generated singer named "Enlly Blue" on Spotify.

What a comment! www.ft.com/content/eae5...
User genauer writes: "Somebody prior here pointed out one of the most important things, to know when to call it quits.

I have an MBA in "Business Development and Creation", kind of sabbatical after my former employer went bankrupt.

And I already had a semiconductor physics PhD with some 103 papers and patents.
I sold my first software age 16, a beer bottle label printing optimization. Then came jobs with a sewing factory accounting. And I was member of the Siemens Student Circle, where I learned about half of the stuff in long weekend and summer seminars.

Then a high precision manufacturing control system, I needed for my PhD anyways, and sold it to repeated customers. But it was not scaling, so no future.

My next product idea, over 15 years ago, was investment automization, but talking around I then understood, that only a few people really need that and the rest a psycho or a priest. Unsuitable for me. In the US was a chance, even a competitor, but I wanted to stay in Germany.

In our summertime program at Berkeley de Haas, we were shown 10 "promising" startups, for 8 I said, this will not fly, and for 2, I don't understand the business.
I, age 43, got reprimanded for my negativity, but all 8 failed, in 2 cases taking each half a billion down the tube.

I then wondered whether I could be helpful with the other planned start ups, but the age difference and experience was too different.

In hindsight the MBA was a waste of time and money, but feeling much more confident in my judgement.

The Stanford Garage is the former d-school."

And now the real reason OpenAI has paid YouGov to conduct a survey on Generative AI is revealed.
Question from a YouGov survey on Generative AI. Question is: Companies are working on expanding the capabilities of AI assistants. Please select two capabilities you would be most interested in using if they were available.
Options are:
1. Builds things that require coding, like websites or games, with natural language.
2. Proactively anticipates your needs or what might be helpful to you.
3. Deeply understands your emotions, values, and goals.
4. Responses that are engaging and interactive like videos or explainers.
5. Helps with multi-step tasks that you might come back to over time vs finishing in one sitting.
6. Your personal AI can interact with other people’s or businesses’ AIs.
7. Researches and synthesises information across many sources.
8. Completes tasks you ask it to do like buying concert tickets.
9. Works across all your devices like phone, smart glasses, smart home.
10. Can participate in and navigate conversations with multiple people.
11. Other (please specify).
12. None of the above.

Contender for the dumbest question I've been asked in a YouGov survey (or dumbest options for answering).

3. An inaccurate response.
4. I wasn't sure how to prompt ChatGPT to get what I wanted.
5. ChatGPT was too slow to respond.
6. A response that was generic, vague, or irrelevant to me.
7. ChatGPT couldn't do what I asked.

I thought this was an excellent comment:
User "Take Off Hoser" comments: "In the early 90s I was an associate at Bankers Trust, later acquired by Deutsche.

One day we had a lecture on “credit risk”: how to avoid lending to bad borrowers. The senior executive told us that, not long before, Donald Trump had entered a branch of the bank on a Friday 15 min before closing. He demanded a withdrawal of $ 750,000. The branch manager said no, $ 250,000 is the maximum under your credit line. Trump threatened the manager, do you know who I am and what I can do to you, etc. the manager relented.

That weekend Trump declared bankruptcy.

Be proud, America, of the man you elected president. "
