it was great to see Uncle Acid again last night, but going to a show the day after crossing an ocean isn't as easy as it once was... dang.

I still remember hearing Good, their first album, it was unlike anything I'd heard, but every part of it felt right. I am often afraid of posthumous releases... but, in this case, I am hopeful.

Found the Metal venue in Bratislava, always good to see the politics up front… especially now.
A doll wearing a hoodie that reads: goodnight white pride, and shows a person hitting someone with a guitar. Doll is also holding a pink sword and a pug. Pug is wearing a gas mask, and a postcard. Postcard shows cops dosing a Molotov and says: Let’s Dance!Poster that reads Fuck Putin

After The Long Room in Dublin, and The Strahov Halls of Theology & Philosophy in Prague, the Prunksaal in Vienna was the last in the top three libraries in my nerd travel list.

This Natik Awayez is in heavy rotation: natikawayez.bandcamp.com/album/manbar...
Album cover shows a yellow circle on a black background, in the foreground there are two stone owl figures and a cutout of an embossed creature with wings, tail, and a staff.

I wrote this thing a while back based on what I was hearing in our workshops. It does have some man work tips. The most surprising, and potentially fun, suggestion is dress differently if you're a straight cis white man. This creates room for other sorts of difference. medium.com/modus/be-a-p...

The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has been leaving the digital keys to its own cloud storage accounts sitting out in the open, in plain text form, for some unknown amount of time, according to a report from Krebs on Security. The problem finally got fixed over the weekend, the report says.

Surely the secret information was buried in some obscure folder with an inscrutable name, I hear you saying. The repository was reportedly named “Private-CISA.”

But there’s no way the contents were that sensitive, you object. But the contents included passwords, keys, and tokens—and the passwords were plain text in a .CSV file.

every time I read de Beauvoir, even the little things, I feel like I should read more de Beauvoir…
What is most striking to me, and most discouraging, is that [the students] are so apathetic while being neither blind nor unconscious. They know and deplore the oppression of thirteen million blacks, the terrible poverty of the South, the almost equally desperate poverty that pollutes the big cities. They witness the rise, more ominous every day, of racism and reactionary attitudes—the birth of a kind of fascism. They know that their country is responsible for the world’s future. But they themselves don’t feel responsible for anything, because they don’t think they can do anything in this world. At the age of twenty, they are convinced that their thought is futile, their good intentions ineffective: “America is too vast and heavy a body for one individual to move it.” And this evening I formulate what I’ve been thinking for days. In America, the individual is nothing. He is made into an abstract object of worship; by persuading him of his individual value, one stifles the awakening of a collective spirit in him. But reduced to himself in this way, he is robbed of any concrete power. Without collective hope or personal audacity, what can the individual do? Submit or, if by some rare chance this submission is too odious, leave the country.

“A democracy is more than a form of government; it is primarily a mode of associated living.” This line got me hooked on Dewey as a young designer (nearly 30 years ago). It now feels obvious, but it turned on so many lights: design as a democratic process / democracy as an outcome of design
