Regardless, it's a really fun show to watch. It's very much NOT scripted, so sometimes the game they're playing goes off the rails, but it usually doesn't. The latest season is a race from one end of Japan to the other by rail, which remains a nail-biter up to the last episode (which I've seen).

Early on, some viewers assumed that Adam and Ben were a couple, and they often behave as if they were, because they're often on a team together. But they're just two (apparently) straight guys who aren't afraid to call each other "buddy".

What I find refreshing about JLTG is how free it is of toxic masculinity. If A and B are chasing S, and he pulls off a clever maneuver to avoid them, they smile and admire him for it. They're all kinda nerds, and they're friends (and co-workers) and they're Having Fun doing this.

JLTG is a series by some YouTube creators who play games like Tag and Hide+Seek and games of their own design, using various parts of the world as their game board. Think "Amazing Race" w/o the layers of artifice: it's just Sam, Adam, Ben, and usually a guest, using their phones to record it.

Google makes the same excuse for not vetting the fraudulent ads it runs. Facebook makes the same excuse for automating all of its moderation. "We couldn't do this is if we had to hire people to do it"... just means they don't have a viable business model.

I used to be part of a group of "local" cartoonists – a few with indie or even Big Two credits, mostly hobbyists with dreams – that would get together once a month at a sandwich shop an hour away and doodle stuff together. That was fun.

Every time I see a political ad on YouTube that demonizes trans people, I report it as a violation of Google's (supposed) policies against hate speech, and ask the person (if there is one) reading the report why they work for a company that their grand/children will remember as Nazi collaborators.

Happiness is SO strongly affected by individual circumstances that I don't think this kind of generalization is even meaningful. My mid-40s were pretty happy – financially stable, doing interesting things, no deaths of friends/lovers – and certain periods before and after that... not.
