Preseason obviously doesn't mean a thing, but holy hell did the Caps' 5v4 PP generate some offense (and the margins by which they were first in CF/60, xGF/60, SCF/60, HDCF/60). Let's hope if carries over into the regular season. Also, the elephant (not) in the room... (via @naturalstattrick.com)

With 14 back-to-backs, that's 1/3 of the Caps' schedule (and thus 1/6 of their games on 0 days rest). They low-key really need Lindgren to get back to at least serviceable because they can't just give away those games (or overuse LT). I have my concerns as to whether that'll happen. We'll see.

People weight things differently. Always hard to compare guys with significantly different upsides and likelihoods of hitting them. Who's the better prospect - guy with a C+ upside and 65% chance of hitting it or a guy with B+ upside and only a 30% chance? YMMV.

Guess it depends on your definition of "realistic" (and, I suppose, "NHL contributors"). I like Trineyev to be a fourth-line NHLer. Miro I think is out of the League in a year, but could pop a little somewhere else. Chesley has an important year coming up in HER and could conceivably perform.

Once again you are correct in your analysis. But people should also be prepared to be pissed at the possibility that they *could* send down Ilya Protas (waiver exempt) short-term to start the season rather than lose Miro/Frank/whomever.
