This is a cry for help. Recently, my family's financial stability is a very thin thread on the verge of snapping. If you come across this, please share it around. If you're able to help, then I'd be very grateful. Ko-Fi: ko-fi.com/skai2blue4u carrd: skai2blue4.carrd.co itch: skai2blue4u.itch.io

So, my grandmother needs your help.

What happened?

Around September 6th of 2024, my 91 year old grandmother was hospitalized because of an infected wound on her face that went into sepsis. I ended up footing the bill for this despite my status as an unemployed university student and lost a good chunk of my life savings in the process. Unfortunately, even if she recovered from the sepsis, the doctors believe she caught pneumonia from the hospital during her stay. She came home on September 13th but had to return to the hospital on September 19th because of lung complications. She was discharged again during September 24th and we thought she was on her way to recovery but on October 18th, her blood oxygen levels began to drop again and she was brought back to the hospital where she’s still staying to this day. Since then, a mountain of bills have piled up— medical and non-medical included. It’s starting to become increasingly difficult to keep up with them the longer that she stays in the hospital.

So, my grandmother needs your help.

Who’s asking?

I’m Skai, an artist and a VN dev. Usually, I would prefer to open emergency commissions and not disclose too many details about the situation beyond a quick summary of it. This time, though, I’ve come to accept the reality that time is not on my side and I can’t juggle commissions and promotion with the work that I have to do for my majors in university on top of being the sole caretaker of another disabled elderly person in my home. I had to pick a lane, social media or my degree, and I obviously had to choose my degree. This is why I’ve finally decided to ask for donations to hopefully help us through these trying times.

So, my grandmother needs your help.

How to help?

Even just sharing this around is a big thing if you don’t have money to spare but if you do, you can donate to my ko-fi page. I’ll provide a link. I would have made a GoFundMe but I just recently found out that they don’t support it in my country. Anyway, we learn to make do. Another way to show support is to go to my itch.io page and name your own price if you decide to download some of my visual novels. My commissions are also technically open but I can’t work on them until my semester ends. The details of which are on my carrd site. I do sprite art, character design, GUI Design, and writing work. If you have any questions, my dms are open.

Art advice you can use right now: Draw slower Observe more Observe again Don’t give up after the first sketch Use references Ask for feedback Work simple, then add details Iterate on ideas Try a new process Make frequent comparisons to refs Draw what you love Draw with others

My method for not burning myself out while drawing is to have multiple pieces at the same time. When I'm stuck on one artwork I can switch to the other and still make progress. Even if its just one little brush stroke. This way drawing became more casual.

pizza cats •ﻌ• 🍕 #foodart #art #cats

Pizza Cats is a food illustration from my 2023 Cats in Boxes series. In a box, there are six different slices of pizza with their own unique toppings, each slice having a cat design involved, from an egg with a cat yolk, to cat-shaped crust, paw-shaped cheese, and cat-shaped pepperoni.

#dancae when caelus finally limps back home to the astral express after his eventful day in belobog, he comes across an unusual sight: dan heng sitting in the parlor all on his own, his eyes closed in deep meditation. pleasantly surprised, caelus is about to greet him until he suddenly stops.

#dancae “march? do you have any idea where caelus has gone?” dan heng's eyes scan the parlor as he enters the carriage, the frown on his face deepening when the only one he spots inside is march. she’s on the couch and sipping at a glass of juice, scrolling on her phone with her other hand.

Ohayou Bluesky. It’s cloudy here. Let me tell you about another trend among Japanese artists. They're moving to Xfolio from pixiv nowadays. Xfolio clearly says they ban all of genAI images, while pixiv is pro-AI. Many AIbros have tried to spam Xfolio, but they have been swept off into the dustbox.
