According to the Washington Post, "Big Balls" was beaten up by an unarmed 15-year-old boy and girl, who then ran off when a police cruiser pulled into the block. The two suspects are now being held at a juvenile detention center. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...

the concepts of "everything that whiteness, capital, and heteropatriarchy have rendered normal for (Stephen) and impossible for (C)" and "(their) vocabularies continually fail(ing them)" to where they can't articulate their realities to each other are really really poignant

been thinking about this excerpt from captive genders since I read it a few days back, written by Stephen Dillon (context: he is writing to an older Latino queer prisoner who had been incarcerated at this point for over 20 years)

maybe jarring ain't the right word 4 it but I did NOT think ~6 years later one of my favorite rappers/close friends would take a chance on me and those beats that is so wild and the potential features on those !! 😵‍💫🥲

jani f @janifbx.bsky.social · 16/07/2025

hearing verses on and getting compliments from ppl I respect on beats I made when I was 17/18 is so jarring

Happy belated belated to Paraffin 🎉 In many ways, it’s the album that shifted my priorities as a rap listener Moving from caring most about what the mainstream guys were doing… To paying more attention to what was happening in the indie scene It’s also really really good

might deadass start letting ppl borrow books if they want cause this shit is getting out of hand

000

jani f @janifbx.bsky.social · 16/07/2025

im about 30 or so pages into both Blood In My Eye and TSWOAL but idk if any 2 writers have moved me + made me feel seen with their prose more than they have, both for similar and disparate reasons every writer (+ person) should read Audre Lorde's "Poetry Is Not A Luxury" essay

jani f @janifbx.bsky.social · 16/07/2025

the 4 books that I wanna finish the most rn, have started each of these to varying degrees (have made way much more progress with captive genders than the rest, im about 200 pages in/halfway done)

Captive Genders: Trans Embodiment and the Prison Industrial System, edited by Eric A. Stanley & Nat Smith

The Selected Works of Audre Lorde by Audre Lorde/edited by Roxane Gay

Capitalist Realism: Is There No Alternative? by Mark Fisher
