Mine didn't do well this year either. If you can get your hands on some Old German seeds (West Coast Seeds sells them), they are what I grow now instead of beefsteak. So creamy and yummy. I also do Principe Borghese, which are Italian and larger than a cherry tomato. Good for sauce and drying.

I often plant a dozen or more tomato plants. But I like to give the space to my heirloom tomatoes like Old German. I put up 24+ jars a season, and I can't guarantee all the San Marz will be ready on the same day. But I do make fresh sauce as often as possible during the season.

Years ago I started canning my own sauce and I’ve never gone back. I can’t grow enough San Marzanos myself so I buy a locally grown bushel and spend a couple of days processing it. Absolutely worth the effort.

Via has been threatening to cancel the 641 commuter train for a decade. It’s so well used that I used to have to book a week in advance to secure a seat. I doubt any other train sells out so reliably. Such a good option for commuters east of Oshawa.

Via Rail has been underfunded for decades. I used it to commute from Oshawa on the just cancelled 641. It was full every day. Probably the only full train each day. I'm glad they are putting money into Via, but they need to think bigger. Forget ALTO until Via is working at top potential.
