I just went partying in Spain for the first time today and learned that they do not give a shit about their hearing 😳 I didn't even know my watch could show 110 dB of volume, but in this one club, several drops went up to that level. Even with earplugs it's loud as shit, wtf :D

The fact that I can fly from Germany to Spain without ever even showing an ID card will never not be amazing to me

Someone ‘Torturing’ LLMs in a Robot Prison Has Triggered the Dumbest Debate in AI Yet
The "AI Torture Chamber" has opened an upsetting and absurd window into the effective altruist obsession with "model welfare."

I got an Outer Wilds merch mug today, and look at what it says on the bottom! I wish all merch mugs were like this

I don't know what happened with Steam Link on my PC, but an update a few weeks ago completely broke it (I literally get like 1 frame every second in the empty SteamVR space) and I had to switch to VD, which works perfectly. I really hope they fix it by the time I can order a Frame.

Depending on your mouse, you might fare better with the Onboard Memory Manager. It saves the button layout on the mouse directly, so you can skip using GHUB entirely. Was a lifesaver when I got my G502X earlier this year. support.logi.com/hc/en-us/art...

But you also need to get lucky within the reservation list. I'm still waiting for my email to actually order one, while some people (like you) already got theirs.

I didn't even know you could ignore projectors in Unity, I'm definitely going to look into this as well then :O

Pretty sure Meta has completely lost interest in VR so I don't think they really care what the Steam Frame does

Adding the button is simple, setting up rules and enforcement around it isn't (that's really the point I wanted to get to here), and I assume that's the reason they haven't done it yet. Or maybe they just love AI slop, what do I know, lol
020
jangxx @jangxx.com · 24/09/2026
In case that'd be the rule I wouldn't click it, but I'm also not sure if many of the people posting on twitter about their slop would either 🤷‍♂️ Even in the twitter screenshots, the guy says sth like "you can't even tell", so the very world this whole thing was started about wouldn't be tagged.

jangxx @jangxx.com · 24/09/2026
This is literally the same thing VRChat always says about their NSFW rules and everyone rightfully always complains about those. I don't think this is a good approach to moderation.
110
jangxx @jangxx.com · 24/09/2026
Surely you'd agree there is a difference between e.g. using a generated image as the basis for a normal map (sth I have done before) and having GPT-6 make a world in Unity fully automated, right? If everything is labeled as AI, nothing is. I just don't see this label as such a pressing issue is all.
110
jangxx @jangxx.com · 24/09/2026
I mean I'm not against adding a box you can click, but I am worried that I'm not sure if I have to click it or not. I have definitely used AI tools in my workflow before so I guess I'd just have to mark everything as AI? But what value does the label have then when it doesn't differentiate anything?
110
jangxx @jangxx.com · 24/09/2026
And even if you have some clear dividing line, how do you enforce it? The moderation team is already inspecting avatars for NSFW bits (and doing a bad job at it), do they now have to take apart every polygon in a world to find traces of AI use if reported? Sounds like madness to me
110
jangxx @jangxx.com · 24/09/2026
I've seen people asking for it but I still don't understand how that's supposed to be enforced. What actually constitutes AI usage worth tagging? More than 50% of models generated? A single texture? Some Udon edited by a coding agent? A purchased asset that used AI in it's creation?
110
jangxx @jangxx.com · 24/09/2026
The linked website is also very obviously AI generated but at this point I'm so desensitized to it that I can't even be mad. I was also very confused about everyone screaming about AI generated content when nothing in the linked video looked AI to me 🤷‍♂️
120
jangxx @jangxx.com · 24/09/2026
Ah alright, I was wondering about this too. Nothing in that 15 second video clip looked obviously AI generated to me.

Apothecary Diaries is so goated, probably one of my favorite anime shows from the last couple of years

jangxx @jangxx.com · 21/09/2026
Yea same, but in the end I always came to the conclusion that that sort of panel could also just be a virtual overlay instead of a physical thing I have to feel for. The advantage of more controller buttons is that your fingers are already resting on them, so there's zero friction.
000
jangxx @jangxx.com · 21/09/2026
Would be cool for example to skip having to navigate the Expressions Menu to toggle a prop when I can just use a DPad button for an instant toggle. Or using the L1/R1 buttons to instantly switch the hand of a prop you're holding.
040
jangxx @jangxx.com · 21/09/2026
One thing I always forget about the Steam Frame is the fact that the controllers have a lot more buttons than other VR controllers. For something like VRC that opens up pretty exciting possibilities of having way more functionality bound directly to buttons or making OSC powered menu systems.

The shader compiler is sloooooow, on my old CPU I've seen it take 20+ minutes to compile the shader for my AudioLink tablet once :D

Okay shit, I listened to the Porter track while switching back and forth between mono and stereo and the difference is actually crazy 😳 Maybe I'm actually gonna try to send three stereo streams instead with two AudioSources playing one channel each
100
jangxx @jangxx.com · 17/09/2026
Does VRChat support normal Shoutcast streams or whatever the thing is called that normal online radios use? If yes you could just pick a few and hardcode their links into the prefab I guess.
110
jangxx @jangxx.com · 17/09/2026
I mean if anyone has the infrastructure required to start one or several VRChat radio stations it would be you :D
110
jangxx @jangxx.com · 17/09/2026
Actually now that I'm thinking about it, you could probably just have two 2D speakers playing channels 3 and 4 for example for a second stereo channel 🤔 But either way, mono audio is fine for now, no reason to overcomplicate this.
000
jangxx @jangxx.com · 17/09/2026
But as okgold pointed out correctly, that's not actually possible if you want to use 2D audio, which I always do. I also really don't see the advantage of stereo audio anyway - most electronic music sounds perfectly fine in mono anyway 🤷‍♂️
200
jangxx @jangxx.com · 17/09/2026
And the actual audio has 4 channels, solely because OBS does not have a setting for 3 audio channels for some reason, so channel 4 is always at 0.
100
jangxx @jangxx.com · 17/09/2026
I'm not sure what that means, are you saying the game automatically applies an effect to the 4th channel which changes the sound? Right now I'm using just 3 channels, L, R and C, each containing a downmixed stereo stream and I've not noticed any problems with it (yet)
100
jangxx @jangxx.com · 17/09/2026
It would definitely be cool to have three actual stereo streams, but I don't see the problem with downmixed mono streams, which is what I'm using in the video. Maybe I'm not sophisticated enough, but especially for electronic music, I can't tell the difference anyway :D
100
jangxx @jangxx.com · 17/09/2026
Yea having different genres was my idea as well, that's why I had a mix of DnB, Hardstyle and Techno. I guess you could differentiate even further and have like Pop or Rock music in there was well 🤔The possibilities are kind of endless.

jangxx @jangxx.com · 17/09/2026
I have no idea if this would actually be fun or even viable with real DJs playing, but I _think_ it could be an interesting one-time novelty event at least?
250
jangxx @jangxx.com · 17/09/2026
This is basically the idea I had - a silent disco VRChat world. You can switch between three channels instantly (audio and video is multiplexed into a single stream), the visuals always adjust to what you're listening to and you can also see what channel other people are listening to.

If you want to explore a math concept, why the hell would you start learning Go to do that? Surely there are better tools suited to explore what you're trying to do than the programming language Go? 😅

At least we are getting Action Drivers at some point so we don't need to faff around with animators for stuff like simple toggles. Also there are tools that make working with them a bit nicer by e.g. automatically setting layer weights and exit times and stuff. But yea, I feel the pain :D

Thanks, that looks good already; I bookmarked it for when I'm ready to decorate the world 👍 And if you wanna model something, that'd be cool! I just had the idea today so if I start working on this for real it's gonna take weeks before I'm done anyway. I could also use both together for variety.

I have a new idea for a VRC world project, but need some flight cases for decoration. Does anyone where to find some good models (paid or free)? I've googled around a bit and didn't really find anything that looked usable.

I just learned that Britney Spears - Toxic came out in 2003 and is therefore older than some people I know from VRChat
