Value of U.S. Wine Exports: 2024–2025 In 2025, U.S. wine exports fell by $428 million (−34%), driven mostly by Canada (−$343 million, −77%). Exports to China (−$69 million, −72%), the UK (−$14 million, −8%), and Panama (−$11 million, −74%) also declined notably.

France has a long history of growing hemp, considered some of the finest in the world. The prestigious Corderie Royale was built in 1666 to make hemp rope for the French Navy. It seems like a good alternative to vines.
