is anyone else obsessed with the "shape" of code? In addition to being well-written, its structural form inspires beauty or am I just a weirdo

low key a little pissed that LLMs ruined the em dash in writing the em dash was central to my writing voice and I'm struggling to dance around it and keep my flow

nobody cares if LLMs produce poor code quality code quality is not a KPI, OKR, SMART goal, CSF, or CPI. it doesn't matter to corpos. when poor code quality reaches criticality, business systems can fail. So let them eat cake.

each year i become more convinced that professional software development deliberately perverts the enjoyment of programming and it doesn't have to be this way

i hate to admit it but it seems talking to LLMs like corpos works best; doing praise and criticize / feedback sandwich produced best results ie "this is great work. Can you blah blah blah? I love the work so far" Also saying "homie" works well too.

It’s just a mistake I made :) I said in another reply that value doesn’t need to be in the loop binding. I generalized this BFS from another algorithm I’m working on, which does have two changing values in the loop binding.
030
Janet A. Carr @janetacarr.com · 01/03/2025
Someone pointed out this can be even shorter by removing the value binding from loop.

It's always so remarkable to me how simple a tree traversal algorithm can be in Clojure This is 10 lines of code (sans docstring of course).

if you want LLMs to write more of your "favourite programming language" for you you don't have a favourite programming language. You have a technology tribe.
