"The fact that Carney’s Liberal government has designated this pipeline as a project of national interest in spite of the over 110 First Nations' expressing concerns or complete opposition to the project is not only unacceptable, but in violation of Indigenous laws, Treaties and the Rule of Law."

All Indigenous people are impacted by the intergenerational trauma caused by residential schools. Today, and everyday, we must honour the survivors of genocide and crimes against humanity, and the lives stolen by Canada.

In May, the PPT on Missing Children and Unmarked Graves in Canada heard evidence of evidence of the abuses endured at residential schools, and of forced and coerced sterilization. Today they delivered their final judgement. The final indictment text can be read here: bit.ly/3VmmuRb

She then spent grades 8-12 at Kamloops Indian Residential School. There were stories of children being buried in the orchards when she attended. This would later be the first discovered site of unmarked graves, and recently the site of an alt-right public display of residential school denialism.

This weekend we organized a counter-summit to Carney's fire sale of resources & public infrastructure. The rooms were overflowing and alive with movement energy. Then we marched, led by Indigenous leaders, took the barricades for hours and danced. Colonialism, neoliberalism, fascism: NO to it all.

Under the Carney government, Indigenous Nations are being forced down one of three paths: buy in and be deemed the “good” Indigenous people, fight back and be cast as the “bad,” or you’re simply the forgotten, left to flee consequences of unbridled extraction.
