My understanding is that SPS brought it up months ago.

And it's also encoded into the CBA. So if they want to change it in the next 3 years, they need to change it in the CBA.

It's happening now because it's the biggest driver of the deficit.

Have you talked to anyone directly at SPS? If not, why not?

It wasn’t last minute. They’ve been proposing it all summer.

It’s SPS parents, as far as I know. They are active on Seattle parents’ forums and seem sincere. What else do you need to know?

There are 57 items they are negotiating and pay is just 1 of them. Because negotiations are confidential, we simply don’t know what the sticking points are. It might not be pay.

My three 80-something elders all vote the Strsnge endorsements and have all lived in Seattle fewer than 5 years. They’re also NIMBYs, though still identify as “progressive.”

I drove on Northgate way and haven’t seen any of these signs. I was wondering if they forgot there were people who live north of 75th St.

None of us avid School Board watchers will be at the board retreat, because none of us can go be in person all day, and the board/district has chosen to not provide remote access in this year of our gourd 2026. They will be discussing board governance, the board work plan, and strategic planning.

I had missed that the SATP was going to be intro and action at the same meeting. That's extremely disappointing. I hope staff will get the materials up on the website well before the meeting. I would love to see the board put some guardrails around when intro and action at the same meeting was used.
