I think AI companies want regulation as a get-out-of-jail-free card. If they follow all the rules and still somehow cause massive damage, they can point to the regulations and say: We followed the rules. We did nothing wrong. You can’t hold us liable. #AI #TechPolicy #AIRegulation

I think there is more to it than just laziness. At my very first job I also had to help the other employees with their computers. And sometimes it was just Num Lock that was off or the cable for the mouse that had fallen out. How many of these cases are solved vy their troubleshooting script?

The left one is the answer. This always confuses me, because I think the red color looks like I red “on” led light. I would have preferred a green color on the background when the keyboard is on.

I do not think it is some heuristic that looks at the code a determines if it looks like something written by human or an agent. 🙂

I believe most agents include themselves as author in the commit messages and/or pull request descriptions.

I really wish Bluesky would show the post being replied to above the reply instead of below. I always find myself scrolling up and down to read these. @bsky.app

Also not a fan a Teams, but should we not at least appreciate that this makes it easier to join meetings from the car?

Is Enterprise also getting this feature rolled out, or will this come later for that tier? (And if Enterprise is getting this later, then how come? I can see that my company os spending a lot on our subscriptions. I would expect Enterprise to be the first to receive new features as an extra perk.)

I think investigation needs to be included as well. It's pretty amazing to see how much Claude can figure out about an issue in Sentry happening in the app, because it also quickly investigates the App Insights logs and the API code. The actual code fix is sometimes almost just a one liner.

That was also my thought. Once you have had to deal with this when implementing s calendar, it takes a while to forget again.

I used an LLM to write some complex SQL statements that retrieved data about the usage of our product. It helps answer questions like “how big does this text area need to be?”

I am doing refactoring code sweeps that I just wouldn’t have done before. You know, things like making sure our naming is consistent. Why wasn’t this caught in the review? Well, things slip through the cracks. And now it’s getting fixed. Avoiding death by a thousand cuts one patch a time.

> A vibe coded project is often a short lived one. I would think that popularity is a better metric.

In reality AI helps with more than half of my tasks, but doesn’t do it perfectly, and it also introduces new time wasters like more context switching and more code digging (because I don’t know the code base that well anymore, since I have not typed it all by hand). So a 2x sounds about right.

Jan Aagaard @janaagaard.com · 29/08/2026
I feel it’s more like AI only helps with some om my tasks. Let’s say that it can help with half of my tasks, but that it does so well, that the time spent on those becomes negligible. The end result is 2x speedup. Still a massive speedup, but not 10x.

I think Apple tried to create a sort of a personal Instragram when they added sharing to Apple Photos. My experience is that Google Photos work a lot better with this regard, so I actually use both apps.

Collaboration already covers work between editors and authors, seniors and juniors. I would also put humans and AI in that category.

Different skillset, sure. It moves through our codebase faster than anyone I know, it knows every technology in our stack, and sometimes it disappears down a completely wrong rabbit hole. I'm not claiming we're equals, but plenty of collaboration isn't.

I don't agree. When I'm debugging, I chat back and forth with the AI, asking it to pull info from our backend systems so I can work out the root cause. It feels exactly like working through it with a coworker.

Is it possible to get 'npx expo install --fix' to work together with npmMinimalAgeGate? We have the cooldown set to two days, so the command fails unless I happens to run it at a specific time in point where the Expo hasn't released any updated in the two two days. 😕 #expo #cooldown #npm

You certainly have a point about two states being enough, but that’s not quite what I’m trying to argue. Another example is the font size selector on websites. It had its moment of fame, but it’s now very rare, replaced by the built-in zoom. I hope the theme selector will have the same fate.

My personal opinion is that these toggles are just distracting UI (like the show 10, 20, 30, 40 og 50 items per page). Sites and apps should just follow the system mode. I don‘t need the ability to have apps in different modes at the same time.

This is the on/off slider switch on my wireless keyboard. Which of these positions would you consider the keyboard to be on?
Two part image showing the same on/off slider switch in two different positions. In the left image the slider is to the left and a black background is revealed. On the right the slider is to the right with a red background revealed.

My experience is that learning to divide up your PRs into proper commits not only make the PRs much easier to review, but it’s also a great tool for upping your coding skills. And recently I have also seen Claude use these atomic commits to better understand the code. Pretty cool.

And some magic CI validator that would fail PRs that have a tail of small ‘fix test’, ‘fix formatting’ etc. commits.

Jan Aagaard @janaagaard.com · 30/07/2026
If I could, I would disable the files tab on my PRs until after all commits had been seen individually. Or probably something less intrusive, but still annoying enough to make the commit-by-commit reviews the default.

Jan Aagaard @janaagaard.com · 30/07/2026
I know that is not completely the same, but I wish devs would just start by dividing their PRs into proper commits. GitHub has stellar UI for reviewing commit-by-commit, but I see most devs just go straight to the files tab when reviewing.

I have the same issue. Would be very interesting to hear from people what the do to overcome this issue. How do you stay focused while waiting for the AI? If the answer is more concurrent PRs, then how do you switch fast between them? Can the agents be made significantly faster or reliable?

Forgot to mention this in the survey: When using AI, I find myself waiting a lot for the answer, and this makes it difficult to keep focus. I know I can start up another session, but that means more context switching. I could also experiment with faster models, but that means more starting over.

Yes, this is what I assume that @thdxr.com would want a finger microphone for. The index has about 15 hours of recording, so it’s not meant for something you talk to all day long.

Great to see all those fixes, but should this really be a single PR? There could of course be a good reason for grouping this, but generally I would advice against this practice. If you want another solution for a few of these fixes then all the others will be held back by this.

> "Monolith" is a deployment strategy, not an architecture. Wonderfully put. I have been in several companies that bragged about having a microservice architecture… That they then could only deploy by deploying all the services in sync. Being the deploy person was pretty much a full time job.

A lot of these have “iOS” in their name. Is there a fallback for Android or is this meant for apps that are only distributed on Apple’s platform?

> some routine tasks like coding and debugging will fall back to Opus 4.8 This sounds pretty bad. But the blog post has this clarification: > Users will be notified if a request to Fable 5 is blocked So we will, at least, be able see when the fall back is happening.

Very nicely done. Probably not the right place to mention this, but two comments: - I am missing the Previous/Next buttons for navigating the commits. It's currently a bit hidden in a drop down. - I think the theme should default to 'auto' instead of 'dark'. - Whitespace hidden by default. 😍

Yeah. That is part of what I find making it hard to make good enterprise products. I am often developing things at a company or for a client that I don’t use myself, so getting their ideas and comments distilled into a product is a big part of the task.

Browsing without an ad blocker, you get the sense websites kind of had Google’s AI summaries coming. I wish they had thought of a way to exempt the decent sites from losing all their clicks.
