Unexciting @jan-bell.bsky.social · 19/02/2026Not at all. It's about power, not logic. States control voting, Republicans control the federal government. They want complete control of the voting process; therefore, the voting process is fraudulent. And only they can fix it, by federalizing the process. 000
Unexciting @jan-bell.bsky.social · 14/01/2026I've been wondering what happens to the economy as consumers don't have enough to spend. At the consumer level, I'd expect a black market to arise, trading goods and services with each other when they can't afford to buy. At the top...?? 060

Taxpayer cost per legitimate conviction? Taxpayer cost per legitimate deportation? Lots of boots on the ground for what seems like no real return - beyond intimidation. 000

Always thought he had a weird bromance with Murderbot. As a systems programmer, I miss the internal system discussions, but seeing saturated Sanctuary Moon is a fair trade! 080

Unexciting @jan-bell.bsky.social · 04/04/2025What's the end game of these maneuvers? It's not like I believe companies and the wealthy care about the rest of us, but how do they think this will end if pushed to the ultimate situation of have/have nothing? (6/6) 000
Unexciting @jan-bell.bsky.social · 04/04/2025What's baffling is that, in a market-based economy, you need - y'know- a MARKET. That consists of people with money who can buy products. If we don't have money, how will we buy products? How will stock prices be sustained or grow when sales are down? (5/6) 100
Unexciting @jan-bell.bsky.social · 04/04/2025Now there's a meltdown just when we will begin needing that 401(k) money, and SSA is looking shakier and shakier as the staff is cut. And the tariffs will make our money worth less and less. This is bad enough for working people. It's a disaster for retirees and the unemployed. (4/6) 100
Unexciting @jan-bell.bsky.social · 04/04/2025And we rely on the 401(k) money for our future. It's not a game where the guy with the highest number wins. It's a matter of lifestyle, health, happiness, and, sometimes, life and death. (3/6) 100
Unexciting @jan-bell.bsky.social · 04/04/2025This improves the values of their own positions. And we individual investors do not operate on a level playing field with the big financial institutions. We don't have expert advisors to do our investing for us. We don't have early access to trades and IPOs. We are NOT market makers. (2/6) 100
Unexciting @jan-bell.bsky.social · 04/04/2025The current market situation is exactly what I feared years ago when companies took away our pensions and pushed us into 401(k) plans with our retirement money. It was obvious even then that the wealthy and corporate interests were trying to shove everyone's money into the stock market. (1/6) 100
