🎃
A 7 panel comic by the artist. First panel: The artist is running from a distance towards a group of people playing basketball in the park. The artist is holding a pumpkin above their head and screaming "AAAAAAAAA". Second panel: The artist has leapt up and is in position to slam dunk the pumpkin into the basketball hoop. Panel three: the pumpkin splatters violently against the backboard of the basketball hoop, sending orange pumpkin goop everywhere. Panel four: the players stand staring, covered in pumpkin goop and shocked. Panel five: the artist stares at them wide-eyed, also covered in the goop and says "it's October FIRST". Their hand reaches towards their face. Panel six: the artist rips off their own face like a rubber mask to reveal a skeleton beneath. Panel 7: the group of players stand shocked and horrified, watching as the skeleton falls to the ground in a pile of bones, the sound effects says "CLATTER".

Those are sprinkles! Hundreds and thousands are nonpareils, French for "without equal". Our Aussie friends put them on buttered bread and call it "fairy bread". And you have to admit there there are a lot of them.

I think it's very hard to find people who have an imagination who are also willing to work for these orgs. And, charitably, those that do are so disengaged that they're not going to bother using it.

The word is "gubernatorial", strangely enough. From Latin.

Gotta love how dishonest those renderings of elevated rail are. Six lanes of traffic and no landscaping vs beautiful bike lane utopia as though those are the options.

A message to our followers.
A white text on black background image, making an April Fool's Day joke about the game industry.

Text:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of the joke.

Our hope was to give our followers the highest quality joke possible, but unfortunately this is no longer aligned with our strategic priorities.

This was a tough decision, but we remain focused on delivering high-quality jokes to our followers as we bring our account back to profitability and growth. We believe that streamlining our posts will allow us to drive creativity and create new opportunities for jokes in the future.

To all of our followers who have supported the joke through development, thank you for your trust and passion. We’re sorry to have let you down.

Followers who preordered the joke will be refunded.

Traditionally people undermining public transit propose monorails so I suppose they're innovating in that way. I can't believe they didn't even overinflate the ridership capacity or make wild claims about speed... It's the worst option by every measure and they're still going ahead.

This is the same SBCTA responsible for the "ZEMU" on Arrow. It seems like they're prioritizing a naive vision of "innovation" over actually providing a useful service. Are they genuinely clueless or is it malicious?

Hasn't this been studied to death already?? Shouldn't they be going straight into final engineering design if they have committed funding?

Human beings can't detect wetness either. We can only detect the temperature change caused by the conductivity of water pulling warmth from our skin and we interpret that as "wet". Even things we think of senses are abstracted.

Tech is pro-immigration in the sense it benefits hugely from "visa slavery" - you can get skilled people in, underpay them relative to citizens, and make it very hard for them to change job due to the restrictive visa terms. Most anti-immigration rhetoric is veiled racism or, charitably, anti-poor.

SoC was a late PS2 title so it was using techniques specific to the HW to do "next-gen"-looking effects like bloom and HDR-like lighting we'd associate with PS3 era. vaguely remember PS2 stored RGB textures 0..127 so it was easy to "overdrive" colours and end up with that overexposed look

You're probably right - PS2 hardware had amazingly fast alpha blending for the time so the best looking games used it liberally. I don't remember the HW having multitexturing so this would be 2 passes. was a long time ago tho!

c++ is tremendously powerful but elegant it is not. you might want to use typescript as a statically typed wrapper around javascript. it's pretty ubiquitous and not awful.

modern javascript is *fine*. It has some quirks but its not like C++ or something.

As an initial implementation you can use Array.Sort() to sort an array of indices but use a comparison delegate that does the array lookup. You'll end up with a sorted list of indices. I'd profile that first and see if it's quick enough before optimizing further.
