Already tell my next book, a romanatsy, is going to be quite... heavy? Since it'll have to explore the concept of self and identity. If someone is morally gray, if not black, can be redeemed. And also exploring emotional trauma and loss. Yay #amwriting #sapphicromance #writingcommunity #romanatsy

Trying to figure out how spicey my book. For context, there are naughty scenes. But there’s always emotional build up to them and their used as emotional windows into the characters. At least for trad publication, from what I’ve heard, is they publish what they know is safe. If you break formulas it may work, but it’s likely not. So they just see more risk then it’s worth.

I wonder how hard I made it for myself for pitching my book. Since it’s not at all what’s on the market: established romance where the relationship itself is not in doubt. Plus it bucks a lot of tropes I think. Aka it doesn’t have the cliche third act break up. #amwriting #writingcommunity

Redid the ending of my book. Same things more or less happen. But how the characters react to it changed. In that it more or less cements their realtionship instead of challenging it.

Word vomit out the first draft. Go over the hot garbage once or twice depending on how rough it is. Then I move on and circle back once I’ve more or less written the rest of the book. So that when I go over it again I’ve found out where the plot goes and how the characters shape up.

Finished second draft edits of my book! Which means it’s time to send out some queries while I tweak my story. But saying that now I feel a little rudderless. Though once I get some query letters out I’ll do some edits and start my next books which will help I think? #amwriting #writingcommunity

That is needed to make it clear why a character was being mechanical and not enjoying some… intimate time. It just felt odd, but with some tweaks it should be apparent that it runs in line with her struggles as a whole.

Got over half of my book edited so yay! Even have gotten some feedback from friends who’ve read it. One of which called the story “whimsical”. Slowly editing through my book. But I’ve reached the 1/3 mark yesterday. So hopefully a the pace in going I’ll be doneish sometime next month. Then it’s time to hand it to a few friends of mine who offered to do story edits and eventually line edits. So it’s getting there! #writingcommunity

I the last week or so I’ve been able to edit 20k of my now 90k book. But that’s due to a lot of my earlier stuff being subpar and needing major rework. I’m hoping I’m going to reach a point where it’s just edits, not revisions. Since I want to say my writing has gotten better. #amwriting #amediting

That’s the plan. It would just be to help get rid of silly mistakes, using they’re instead of their. But after that I have a friend who offered to help me with line edits to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

So i think I can say my writing style doesn’t entirely suck. Since I sent out a part of my work and got back generally positive feedback. Still some errors I need to fix but those were mainly editorial things. So yay! My story might be interesting. #amwriting #writingcommunity

Not 100% sure how it will go, joys of being a panster. But I see the villainess slowly remembering who she is and even try and hide it once she does. Also another fun gut punch that’ll happen then. The Villainess will remember she killed heroines parents😀 😭

Yep, the idea is the heroine lives alone and stumbles upon the near dead villainess. Carries them back to their hovel. Does major surgery on them, setting bones, healing burns, and other ER level trauma. Then nurses them back to health over time. Which makes the V blindly loyal to her savior.

Wanted to really explore a story with a true “evil” villain, think Genghis Khan & Attila. But due to memory loss explore if she can have redemption. Other things are Heroine saves the near death villain. Also the villain being hyper protective of heroine even once her memories come back.

So after redoing one of my steamy scenes I can say Ann definitely has a gap moe ascetic. In that shes normally an anxious mess and hyper aware of her surroundings. Until Lucy gets her in the mood which flips a switch and makes her go full top mode. #sapphicromance #sahppicwriters #writingcommunity

Ann is a level headed no nonsense kind of woman. She’s the type to whip out a budget or make an itinerary for a spur of the moment idea. As well as being a general voice of reason Unless when it comes to Lucy. She listens to her heart when it comes to her more often then naught.

It’s needed but I recommend only doing it once. Then forcing yourself to move on. Otherwise the book will never get done… But once it is done then you can really iron things out and make it click. Also good luck with your editing process. I’m about to do a front to back read through and edit 😟
