It's even more cynical than this. The problem is even progressives imagine that they can bring Conservatives over if they go in baby steps. Saying the killing of trans people is bad is too controversial and will alienate Cons who (they imagine) might otherwise listen and eventually convert.

They always leave out the persecution of the queers. Even cishet progressives tend to forget about it. It's extremely rare for this to ever be acknowledged, or they'll toss a line in about gay men (only) and leave the rest out.
