Ride have been very good, but still not as great as their earlier albums. And they are still excellent live. But that first Slowdive album after the reunion might even be better than their 90s albums (which I love).

Ooh Gene wouldn't actually be embarrassing. But never going to happen. Rossiter doesn't even perform solo anymore. In fact, he made a big deal about doing his last ever shows a couple of years back.

I actually prefer it when they don't make a comeback. I quite like that a body of work is finite. Most bands comebacks are quite sad. Having said that, Slowdive have absolutely matched their earlier work with their recent output and their live shows are better than ever.

You were told it because everyone thinks there’s a rule and people like to be pedantic. As you say, it’s just passed from person to person and then there’s no going back. But you can now be on the side of the righteous and point out there isn’t a rule next time someone says there is.

That first album is superb. Was just listening to it again. So many great songs... Gyasi Went Home, Money Worries, Nothing to Say... in fact, it's the definition of all killer no filler.
