This is *such* great news! Montane woodland is a rare habitat, long gone from the memories of most hillwalkers of the Highlands. This initiative will bring it right back to the forefront at one of the most visited high altitude areas of the Cairngorms. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Insh Marshes in @cairngormsconnect.bsky.social is full to the brim with meltwater. It's a timely reminder of how important functioning floodplains are. Imagine if that water wasn't allowed to seep out into the flatlands surrounding the river, it would be devastating for downstream communities.

I am *incredibly* late to the party, but I finally got around to reading #Rewilding. I'd thoroughly recommend it as a great introduction to the topic. I really enjoyed delving into the species of the Pleistocene and how they shaped our world. It really gets you thinking about shifting baselines.
