Finished these a week or so ago and forgot to post a picture - this is my standard sock recipe in a self striping 4ply, I just needed another pair of socks for the winter #knitting 🧶

Spent this morning trying this flame yarn from “The Spinners Book of Yarn Designs” A spun single plied around a commercial silk thread, with a few beads thrown in as well. A lot still to learn in terms of regularity and control but I was pleased with this for a first try #HandSpinning #HandSpunYarn

Updates to my little technique study in the longwise striped top. On the left (larger skein) is the first skein where the colours were separated from the fibre and made into rolags. On the right (smaller skein) is a skein made by spinning from the fold 🧵/1 #HandSpinning #HandSpunYarn

In the end I made some okay rolags (they aren’t pretty but they worked) and spun them long draw, then I chain plied them to keep the colours as separate as possible. /4 #HandSpinning #HandSpunYarn

I got some new fibre today! This is piña colada, a blend of merino, silk and pineapple fibre that I can’t wait to try out, and a tub of joy - 50g of surprise fibre which I thought would be great for building up bits and pieces for blending board fun #HandSpunYarn #HandSpinning #FiberArts

My new method for record keeping. Index cards with notes and slits cut to hold yarn samples. Ideally I’d like to have unfinished samples on these as well, but it was too late by the time I’d thought to do this. I’m thinking I will sort them into sections by fibre type? #HandSpinning #HandSpunYarn

My finished Falkland poldale spin. This spun short forward draw from combed top, and plied from three singles. The finished yarn is probably the most worsted yarn I’ve ever spun and comes in at about a DK weight (ish) with some gorgeous tonal variations in the green #HandSpunYarn #HandSpinning
